Here is a list of the stuff I have listened to with joy that isn't obscure, per se, but bothers my mother (a very neurotypical person) due to how unconventional it is: Primus Frank Zappa Captain Beefheart The Residents Miles Davis (during the fusion/jam periods of his career - 70s and very early 80s... |

Here is my last blues improvisation of the night that I figured I would share with the WP community, mistakes and all. This was again done while pretty much sleep deprived and a bit manic and anxious (hence, the weirdness of my ideas). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaVDWCAEmPk Again, I'm not a tec... |

Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. I don't know this factually, as he is a very introverted figure, but the second I read the first post in this thread he came to mind as a favorite musician of mine who would "fit the description". Edit: I noticed he was already mentioned. Still, an underapp... |

I just did this experiment with a Snapple bottle as a slide, earlier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6eGKX9JTPg I normally haven't played slide guitar. I just tuned to open D and decided to experiment, simply and sloppily. I didn't really know what I was doing here, and I'm also overtired at this ... |

one of the best guitar solos in history was jimi hendixe's "axis bold as love". it can be crudely approximated with reference to a keybooard backing track but can not be in the limelight as only stringed instrument can convey emotion. http://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=sin... |

well yeah i know....what can you do? keyboards have definite frequencies that can not be esacped, and stringed instruments can be bent and flexed to instill emotion. i have never been able to play stringed instruments. like this is an extreme example of emotion by pink floyd that i could never appr... |

Hi folks. First off, some very incredible art throughout this thread. I hope one day to get even close to the level of most people here. I figured I'd share a slideshow I put together with some of my works here. I was never into art as a kid because of motor skill deficits which still follow me to t... |

Hi fellow musicians. I am very new to these forums, but already feel at home with like-minded people and hope to begin looking through and checking out as many of the works in this thread that I can. I've only been playing guitar for 1 and a half years with any passion at all. I used to try a bit on... |

Welcome! I relate to the "old soul" vibe, my favorite decade of music is the 60s. I listen to some new stuff, but it pretty much sounds like older stuff. I'm fascinated as to why I prefer older music. Maybe I don't like the sound of digitally-recorded music. Or I prefer when music has mor... |

My definition of art is very broad. To me, anything can be art. I mean, I've only been drawing for a year and painting for 6-7 months, and I improvise. My own art likely comes off as an incoherent mess, to most people, I'm pretty sure. Abstract expressionism is I guess what I'd call it, but to most,... |

Hi folks! I just stumbled across these forums. I'm a 24 year old Aspie from CT. I also have anxiety disorders and bad insomnia, and strongly suspect that bipolar disorder is the culprit for those. I have been taking antipsychotics as per doctor recommendation since I was five years old, so my brain ... |
