I've always wanted to get into oil painting. :) I mostly create animal realism portraits using dry media like charcoal, my favourite tool. Over time I've started to feel slightly restricted by my realism work however, and now frequently explore beyond exactly replicating a reference by eye - there'... |

Welcome! Don't worry, diagnosed or not, you're welcome on here. I only know I have AS by association, as basically my whole family has it and we all have similar issues, haha. Would be glad to chat with you! |

Thanks for sharing and welcome! Likewise, congratulations on your success and triumph inside the halls of academia. Be very proud of what you have accomplished. Moreover, the more education you get, the more you can help others like us, and it will also buy you some respect within the neuro-typical... |

I don't know if I can offer any helpful advice, but I just wanted to say that I understand your feelings. I used to have a never ending fountain of creative ideas, and due to health challenges and probably medication, I feel like my mental capacity for creativity has all but dried up. It can be diff... |

Hi everybody! I just graduated University with a Studio Art degree and an emphasis in oil painting. I learned to love oil paint as a medium, but my first and true loves are drawing and inking. I'm curious what mediums other visual art aspies prefer, and also the sort of imagery/subject matter you're... |

The good news is, you don't need classes or training at all in order to pursue your passion! They can often be helpful, but as an artist/writer myself, who has taken many classes, they are not at all necessary to practice or improve your craft. I would recommend reading all that you can about writin... |

When I was a kid, my parents didn't want me reading certain types of books (mostly scary books) because they said I would act differently after reading them. Back then I brushed it off as them not liking the same things I did, so they made excuses to keep me away from it, but here lately I can't he... |

I've been trying to get into JPop more lately! I've listened to a lot of Japanese music, primarily through anime, but I'd like to become more familiar with the genre. I know AKB48, Kyary, and a smattering of others. Are there any major groups I should be aware of? :) I try to avoid the too-generic s... |

I would say that knowing the meaning of a song is important to me, but not necessarily understanding the language. I listen to a lot of foreign music as well (in Japanese, German, Italian, to name a few,) and if I like the music of the song well enough, I will look up the meaning of the lyrics and k... |

As far as musical styles, my tastes vary pretty widely! But if I had to pick maybe the most jarring genre to people in general, I have a strong affinity for "Goth" music. Some favorites include Emilie Autumn, Paralysed Age, The Cure, Sonata Nocturna and a smattering of others. Highly recom... |

Hello everybody! I haven't used a forum in a long time, but here goes. :star: I am very new to embracing my identity as an Aspie. My older brother was diagnosed with Asperger's just as I was graduating from high school (about six years ago,) and the extreme nature of his experience necessitated a lo... |
