I'm unofficially "closing" this thread. A moderator can lock it if he/she wishes to do so. I will be taking my leave from Wrong Planet as of this post. I've changed my email address and my password was randomly generated so I don't even know what it is, and I won't be able to log back in o... |

I have heard of quota cases, before. They know what they were and how they got hired. Excuse my bluntness, but has someone directly offered you a job, in which autism, or some treatment program, was a qualifier? Have you been offered what is called 'reasonable accommodation', by a prospective emplo... |

It depends on the compliment. There are some compliments I can handle decently and others I try to shrug off because I don't feel I deserve them. |

You're definitely not alone. I sometimes cut my fingernails right before going to bed so that I don't have to be conscious for the first 8 or so hours of the unpleasant sensation. It takes about a day or two before it goes away completely for me. |

I'm going to be honest: In summary, most of the answers you gave will cause you not to get the job. Some of the answers would seem sort of "smart-ass" to an interviewer, unless the interviewer is an Aspie him/herself. Or: are you being satirical? I'm going to assume, here, that you're bei... |

I hate to sound like I am criticizing you but I don't think you will get a job if you answer questions like that. Especially the question where you ONLY talk about your weaknesses. Instead of saying only that, try to say something where you overcame your weaknesses which employers love to hear. For... |

I didn't realize my mistake in time to add an amendment to my original post, so I'll have to settle for mentioning it in this new post. Some of my answers to the questions are admittedly not entirely serious, but the general ideas contained in my answers still hold true to how I would answer them. I... |

The main obstacle that stands between me and obtaining employment with a company always rests with the hiring process, the job interview in particular. Before I completely throw conventional work out of the window to focus exclusively on unconventional work opportunities (e.g. being a writer, freela... |

Who actually needs to see the diagnosis, and what is their lowest standard of proof. Just asking rhetorically. There is no need to give me sensitive details. Well, I might need a diagnosis with a medical-grade standard of proof to increase my chances of finding suitable employment. I've failed ever... |

Do you have health insurance? If you are so poor that saving up $100 is a big deal, you may qualify for Obamacare. Find someone who does evaluations and ask your general practitioner for a referral. That's what I did. I have health insurance, yes. Yes, that sounds like a good idea. I'll ask my doct... |

Or become the subject of a research study on autism. I knew somebody who got an evaluation for free for being such a subject. In the US, if you're beyond high school, that's the only way one could get a free evaluation. That sounds like the best option thus far. Thanks. Do you happen to have any id... |

I'm not satisfied with going for the self-diagnosis route, but when I asked my psychiatrist how much an a diagnosis would cost from a developmental specialist he threw out something like 400 dollars at best. That's way beyond my means. I could scrape together 100 dollars maybe 150 dollars if I saved... |

Greetings, everyone. The WrongPlanet forums seem like a where I might actually fit in for once, so I'm optimistic about that. I do come here with questions that I'm hoping to find answers to, but I enjoy responding to questions as much as I like asking them, so hopefully it will have a net neutral e... |
