I preferred playing with people older than I was when growing up. I would even skip participating in other children's games in favor of sitting with the adults and listening to their conversations. So no, I was never really into playing with other children. |

I can read expressions well enough, especially involuntary microexpressions, but I'm better with deciphering tone of voice. |

It depends on what I'm thinking about, but it's mainly in words and images, coloured by sensations. |

It seems to me that NTs like things that I don't really care about: like selfies, food, celebrity gossips, etc And they don't care about what I care about: science and technology. My facebook posts about science and tech get between 1~3 likes. But when I upload food I cooked, or even, a selfie, the... |

It isn't normal for parents to send a 30-something to their room. I think if you act like a child you will be treated like a child, no matter your age. |

Most Aspies are intelligent enough to understand metaphors, I would assume. |

Mental strength means facing adversity every day without succumbing, just as courage is facing your fears. To me, mental strength does not occur in the absence of adversity, just as courage is not possible in the absence of fear -- it would just be stupidity. Given that people who develop mental dis... |

I don't know how excessive daydreaming has much to do with Asperger's, but I'm not a doctor or psychologist so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think it has to do more with a schizoid personality though. |

Considering that Lost_dragon is not Autistic in any way will explain many of her blatantly antagonistic responses in this subject. It would appear that her only desire for this subject line is simply to stir the pot and to gain a reaction from many of the ASDs here. I'll admit that maybe some of my... |

An old English teacher, with a funny last name, is undoubtedly one of the worse teachers I ever had the misfortune to meet.
I've met my share of perverted "teachers" (I refuse to give them the label) too. Some criminally so, even. |

One of them is tumour-ridden, so her mind is elsewhere now. |

I've always struggled with this, especially this part. How should I act or behave? I can make eye contact, but I make it too much. That alone seems to work as a defense but then they always come around with more insults. I want to be able to defend myself and fight against unjust criticism. How sho... |

kraftiekortie wrote: Darwin in evolution is like Freud in psychology.
Both were pioneers--yet we've "evolved" in knowledge in both disciplines since the 19th-early 20th century.
Freud's observations are overly subjective and have no predictive power, so they're not quite the same. |
