There was an article in the Sunday Times (12th October) on the new biography of Buffett called "Snowball" I think. Thought to be the world's most successful investor. The person reviewing Snowball thought that the biographer had failed to pick up on the possiblity that Buffet has AS. Article: http:/...

There was an interesting and reasonably balanced article in yesterday's Sunday Times (5 October) which focused on the relationship of intellectual gifts and "certain brain disorders" i.e. autism/AS. Autism up to 7 x more common in mathematicians. Stated that the genes responsible are usually benefic...

Girls (or guys), I would like your honest opinion on the following: I said the following two things to a guy I know: 1. He was telling me about his interest in genealogy, and about some of the various ancestors he had discovered. I said: "Quite the little mongrel aren't you!" 2. On another ocasion, ...

My former boss retired. I saw him a year later at a social event and he didn't know that I had been one of his staff !

(It was incidentally a small department of about 16 people.)

In the last year of my school, every pupil was normally made a "prefect" (this is England we're talking about) and given responsibilities. I was the only one who wasn't. The worst thing is that none of the teachers had the courtesy to talk to me about why I was excluded. I know now of course! There ...

I have read that people with AS can have difficulties with certain aspects of language. I have two personal examples: 1. My lecturer at university was using the phrase "time is of the essence" but I couldn't understand its meaning. 2. I have trouble understanding the jargon of the business world whi...

I was in a pub recently on holiday and there were two men who seemed interested in me. One of them started a conversation with me by asking what I did. The trouble is that I started talking far too much about my interests and this obviously scared him off! Would appreciate tips on how to avoid doing...

Has anyone ever attended a course in social skills for people with AS? If so, did you find it effective? Also, why do you think it was or wasn't effective?

The article also says that oxytocin can be bought as a nasal spray in most countries. I will try to buy some and use myself as a guinea pig to see if it makes me more sociable or not. If anyone comes across a website selling this stuff do let me know.

If a guy (NT) smiles at you each time you meet, sometimes sighs, buys you a drink and invites you to sit next to him, does this mean he is interested in having some sort of relationship with you or could it just mean he's being friendly in a general sort of way.

Has this subject been recently posted?

If not, I read that there is an article in New Scientist about injections of this hormone helping autistics to recognise emotion. (I'm not sure if the article mentions Aspergers). Would be interested to hear your views.

I really hate NTs who put on a big act of being cooler than cool, and the way they look down on you if you say/do anything they think is uncool. Does anyone have a good way of putting such people in their place?

Autistic people, like all minorities, tend to become mirrors. There is a whole psychology written around this.

This sounds really interesting. Can you point me in the direction of this literature?
