"If you didn't have such a negative attitude, then you wouldn't have [problem X]" - when [problem X] is the exact thing preventing me from having a "positive enough" attitude to life. That leads straight to ABSOLUTE despair, and is the cruellest irony possible because it means that the ONLY way to g... |

Self diagnosed at 20/21, officially diagnosed at 22 or 23 (i'd have to check the date on the diagnostic report to see whether it's before or after my birthday). LCH, wow, you were only diagnosed this year? Were you self diagnosed before that? I kind of got the impression from your blog that you had ... |

I believe that a LOT of Aspies, particularly those whose "verbal IQ" is normal to high (and therefore don't necessarily *seem* to have much of a problem with language, but just with emotions and social skills) get misdiagnosed with bipolar or similar labels. While i was never diagnosed as bipolar, i... |

Steinbeck and Orwell? Really? 1984 and The Grapes of Wrath are 2 of my favourite, and IMO the most amazingly and powerfully written novels of all time, but i don't really see anything obvious to connect either John or George to having AS. Lovecraft - absolutely definitely. Not only doe... |

For some reason i thought NIN had split... dunno, maybe it's because i associate them with my ex ;) re the last few posts: i LOVE Dre's beats... and Missy's, and Timbaland's... beautiful, bass heavy, sci-fi $#it, but i'm just turned off by the lyrics... same old misogynistic, conspicuous consumption... |

I hated being touched by anyone as a child, but started liking it (not in a sexual way, i didn't develop a sexuality until something like 5 years later) around puberty. Now i like hugs from friends, but being really skinny i feel kind of awkward hugging people who are also thin... tho i don't think ... |

I think, if there is a connection at all, it could go in 2 possible directions: 1) the children developed autistic-like traits because of their lack of contact with other humans (as it has been proven that interaction with others is necessary for certain skills to develop, and that there is, for som... |

I'm white and i tend to find most (although by no means all) white people unattractive in appearance. I tend to be drawn to non-white people in the same way that i'm drawn to anyone who looks or acts "distinctive" - non-white people seem to have some sort of "energy" about them that is more powerful... |

"PDD-NOS" and "NVLD" seem to only exist in the US - or, at least, i've never encountered anyone from the UK with either of those diagnoses - most people with the former would be diagnosed either with autism or some sort of generalised "learning disability" label, and most with the latter would be ei... |

so... no poll options for UK, conscious/political/radical or nerd/underground/experimental hip hop then :( (although i'm pleased that some stuff from those genres has been discussed in this thread...) Roots Manuva's first album is one of my favourite albums in any genre. Other UK MCs i like include ... |
