Thanks for the replies. I did attempt to learn to drive in high school but anxiety issues proved too much of a distraction, especially when I was not working with people I knew. We had been thinking about going to a driving school this year just so I could learn enough to get to work, Walmart, etc. ...

Hello, I am an adult on the spectrum. I don't drive, and thus still live with some of my family members, who help me get to my job, etc. The problem is that our political views have become widely divergent over the years -- I am less conservative than they are. It's come to the point that I try not ...

Kiki1256, I have been struggling with the same issue of doom and gloom in the news. I know "if it bleeds it leads", but maybe taking a sabbatical from the news cycle for a while is your best bet. It's been recommended to me, but it's not easy is it? Good luck.

I am particularly excited about this as an autistic woman. One reason I gravitated towards the character of the Doctor, especially the Twelfth, was that he reminded me more of myself than any autistic portrayals of women I've seen in media. The prospect of a female incarnation who can have her own e...

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, my family might not approve of a Meetup.com event and agree to get me to and from, though I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask. There is a regional paper that I just looked up, but none of the upcoming events interest me that much. I'm not into trivia nights (...

I am a newbie barely on the right side of 40. I was diagnosed as an Aspie as a teenager. My interests are varied and obsessive -- I can talk a lot about Disney theme parks, Doctor Who (mostly Fourth and Twelfth Doctor eras), Cirque du Soleil, film in general, etc. But I don't know of any support gro...

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I'm an autistic adult who lives in a relatively small town, near a medium-sized city. I have a lot of passionate interests -- theater, Doctor Who , writing, etc. -- but I've never quite been able to find a place to commune with people who share those interests. I can't part...
