I've been communicating on the internet since it's been around and intent is often hard to draw from the text of a post, even for non-aspies. It takes me a half hour to write a post because I want my point to be obvious, just for that reason. It will always be hard to be sure what a stranger's inten... |

The other way to answer the same types of questions is to experiment on live humans, something that should cause dread in everyone. They aren't doing that, of course. It would be unethical. Unless autism has a major structural component in the brain, I would think studying live brains would be much... |

Being on the spectrum usually comes with some comorbidities, I agree with starkid, it helps to know what you are actually dealing with. I got my aspie diagnosis in my 20's, in my 30's and 40's I was getting treatment for adhd which seemed to come and go for years. Only recently, after taking a few p... |

I have half a dozen people I am sociable with when I happen to see them, but I wouldn't lend them money or call them if my car broke down in the middle of the night. I have two people I consider actual friends but I only see or call them once every couple of months. In the average week I might talk ... |

I read everything out loud in my mind, if it's a story, each character has their own voice. It slows me down but I have great comprehension and retention, so it kind of equals out :) In speed reading courses it's one of the first things they say you should practice, reading without the internal voic... |

The church I grew up going to started in my grandfather's garage, eventually he and some of the other members built a church. Growing up I felt a lot of ownership in the property itself and did a lot of cleaning, painting, mowing, and other maintenance. I went to church every Sunday, usually twice, ... |

As an aspie who meditates I can say with certainty, it does make meditation a challenge in the beginning, but there is no reason to think you can't get there with a bit of effort :) At the start I had two big stumbling blocks, I had real trouble visualizing anything, and I couldn't let thoughts &quo... |

I would argue that will, in Schopenhauer's usage of the term, does not equal unconscious, as it relates to us humans. I made my own research and i came to understanding that Will does equal unconscious. I'll admit it's been several years since I've read any Schopenhauer, the english translations ar... |

For those of you who think the unconcious is a real part of human psychology, do you think neurodiverse people have a different sort of unconscious? Or have one at all? I believe everyone has an unconscious component in them, defining that with any precision is beyond me. I also believe that each i... |

I don't deny unconscious. We are conscious in certain way of meaning of our actions - in irl or in dreams -but we almost have no knowledge of real force that drives us. We can somehow understand the hidden intention of the force only through an intuition. And those people whose conscious found exlu... |

Because of the fact that I dream, I KNOW that I have an "unconscious.' No no. First you "know" memories of your dreams not dreams by themselves. There is probobility that they were quite different than your memory of them. Secondly if you are conscious of unconscious phenomenons they... |

I am diagnosed with AS, PTSD, schizophrenia, BPD, plus chronic depression and anxiety. There's a lot of overlap in all those and the first four very frequently have the last two as comorbidities individually. So I would say that it's certainly not uncommon to have multiple comorbidities. Depression ... |

If you are in therapy ask to take a personality inventory, like the MMPI , that will get you some good answers. You can take it online but it's next to impossible to decipher on your own. If you're not in therapy, some colleges have mental health outreach programs that give you counseling for free. ... |

I know I'm late to the party here but I have something that will help you with managing tasks, I struggle with that process to this day myself. Like ASPartOfMe suggested, don't overwhelm yourself by thinking about everything that needs doing, it took me until I was in my 30's to stop doing that to m... |

I've gone down that road several times over the last 30 years, the learning curve can be nasty. While I appreciate that you are trying to go at things incrementally and at a reasonable pace, that doesn't always translate to good outcomes from any given experience. Even if you stay withing your toler... |

For me it's texture, I get a gag reflex when trying to swallow peaches, plums, apricots, strawberries, and some types of pears raw. I like all of them cooked but can't get them down raw, I try from time to time, but it doesn't seem to change for me. I also can't handle preserves and jams with too mu... |
