Yep this is a problem. My first "girlfriend" in college was a huge problem. I thought we were more serious than she did, and I fell pretty hard for her. She did something (I think got drunk and kissed one of our friends) and I just couldn't handle it. I basically shut down and withdrew for a long ti...

Hopefully someone who is on meds will give some insight. I've never taken any type of mental prescription drug so I have no idea what they do to you. I am most certainly leaning away from them. She is only trying to help and doesn't have any other agenda, she probably thinks it can be fixed by a mag...

Thanks. My wife does know about all my problems, she is about the only person I can talk to about it. I think she feels I should just be more "normal", she absolutely can't understand what it's like no matter how hard I try to explain it. I really am wondering if there are any success stories from t...

I'm 25 and have never been diagnosed. I'm happily married with a kid and a good job. I think I probably only have a mild case of Asperger's; my main problems are social situations, 1 on 1 conversation, eye contact, going into unfamiliar or unplanned situations, leaving the house, and so on. Lately m...

Anyone else a perfectionist? I certainly am, and it has its good and bad sides. When I was growing up, my parents had me take piano lessons, which I picked up very easily. I became what most would consider a very good pianist, and could sight-read most anything given to me. However, since high schoo...

Gotta shower every day. In fact, I find myself almost unable to leave the house if I haven't had a shower. I'm probably borderline OCD in that if I can't follow my routine: shave, shower, put in contacts, do my hair, I can get pretty stressed out. It is OK if I have to wait several hours after getti...

I would say I've had a similar pattern of friends over the years. Back to 4th grade which is the earliest I can remember having a real friend, I've usually just had 1 friend at a time, eventually drifting apart and maybe finding another friend. Just like you mentioned, one thing they all had in comm...

I've heard this too but most times when I try it, I feel the same way as I do when I'm avoiding their eyes. That is, I feel like they know I'm trying not to make eye contact. I guess I just don't believe it can look the same as actually making eye contact. Maybe I'll get my wife to test it out with ...

Lucid dreaming is basically becoming consciously aware that you are dreaming, and being able to make conscious decisions or actions within the dream. There are various tricks to try to make it easier to have one. The most common is performing a task repeatedly throughout the day, such as looking at ...

You should watch the movie "Waking Life". It's about lucid dreaming, very interesting stuff. You're right, turning on a light switch that doesn't work is a "dreamsign". Others are trying to read fine text or look at a digital watch. I've never been disciplined enough to actually get a lucid dream, b...

Wow, some of you have EXACTLY the same phone issues I do! I absolutely hate making a call, to anyone, for almost any reason. Except my wife, I have no problem calling her. I figure it's a combination of my lack of verbal communication skills in general, and the desire not to interrupt anyone (the go...

I generally don't like to admit to anyone (other than a few close friends) that I have a problem with it. I think yours is a good solution if you can do it: just get it out there and let them know why you are acting a certain way. You're a braver man than I. :)

Hi all, I'm new here and thought I'd make my first post about one of the most frustrating issues I have. Looking people in the eye while talking to them or listening requires a lot of concentration, almost so much that it takes my mind off the actual conversation. Having a conversation 1 on 1 is har...
