Thank you Clueless2017 and blazing star. I think she's safe. He's a narcissist, so he'll put on a show. I'm more worried about that for when she gets older and starts to challenge him. |

I don't have a tv yet and I can't focus enough to read, but curling up sounds about right. Thanks! |

I haven't been here for a while, but I need an outlet. Could really use support. I left a verbally abusive marriage and it was worse this week than anything before until the moment I was done moving and didn't have to go back. I moved everything myself because of covid restrictions. My daughter is a... |

Cleaning is productive, meditative, and never ending which can help with all the time at home. This pandemic is scary, and if it is a tiny bit helpful to be proactive and clean, it's also a way of feeling like I have some control over the situation. |

To all the autists who have ever been put down for not keeping up with someone else's schedule--now is the time to take pride in your hyperfocusing abilities! Working on one project for 8 hours at a time is a great thing with this paradigm shift to being locked in our houses. I hope parents of autis... |

I don't mean to say I don't have implicit bias, I think I mean I am always extremely hyper aware of it and was irritated to have to sit through a day long lecture on. If you didn't understand the first part, maybe what I'm talking about isn't common knowledge. In education, there has been a recent t... |

Major anxiety and fear of having done something really wrong. For example, I went to use a public bathroom today and did a half glance at the female symbol. I got inside and there were a bunch of men. My slight delay at processing this didn't happen until I was in a stall, no chance to run out. I st... |

Does anyone else feel weird about the new language that connects implicit bias to neurology and brain function? I get and agree with the idea that stereotypes and assumptions are so ingrained that they are in a person's subconscious, a neat trick the brain does to categorize and simplify. But neurol... |

Nature always helps me manage panic attacks. Is there somewhere isolated you can go to study or just get grounded? Also something that helps me is to make a daily schedule. It can include time for socializing, time for lounging, time for studying, meals, exercise, whatever you do. It helps me to pla... |

"Highly animated" and "over the top" sound like me. l have more than once had random strangers suggest I audition for cartoon voice overs. It's not a choice or decision, it's my automatic way of being. I usually forget I'm like this until I see video of myself and am reminded of ... |

To the OP, like everything with autism, I think we are all different in our extremes. NTs probably have a nice mid range of all the types of empathy and sympathy. If you have a hard time feeling what other people feel, you can still observe and react with sympathy. Making sympathetic and caring choi... |

If by this you mean someone having a "psychic" or "supernatural" ability, then I'd have to disagree. It's not psychic or supernatural, it just is. Have you ever played with tuning forks? When you ding one and put another nearby, it picks up the tone, too. I always think of emoti... |
