Narcissist is something I have suspected for a long time. I do wonder about ASD, he is a very social person (which is why he claims that there is no way 'it came from him') ... But it's always about what other people think of him. (which is why he doesn't want to acknowledge the kids ASD, in his wo...

I only mean help me in so far as telling the people that can help stop his behaviour or get them away from him, so that the stories are believed. When it's only coming from me and the kids won't retell their stories judges and lawyers just shake their heads and say I'm being the 'bitter ex wife' Nar...

Throwing your son across the room is not “super strict”—it’s domestic violence. If you know your ex abuses your children & you do nothing about it, you are a part of the problem. It’s understandable you are not able to cope. You & your children need professional help. I reported him for thi...

I don't think of them as meltdowns, but I deal with nausea and retching and stomach pains and the like when I've got to do something social and am just barely coping. Like if I know I have to go somewhere in the evening, the nausea will build through the day and I won't be able to eat much if anyth...

Hi everyone! When my son was young he had blankies that he loved, just light cloth with a satin edge, he use to play with them in his fingers and sometimes suck on the satin edge. We ended having about 8 of them in the house so I could wash them regularly. I worked very hard with him to get rid of t...

I am newly diagnosed ASD, I am finding it hard to find much information around about what happens during an adult female meltdown. I know everyone is different to an extent, but I am curious in particular whether or not other people experience physical illness as part of a meltdown (think nausea, vo...

Since I can remember I have always wanted long hair, all the pretty girls have or want long hair or so it seems to a child. And my Mum always wanted me to have long hair... But as long as I can remember as soon as it got past a certain length I have an overwhelming desire to cut it all off! It is a ...

Thanks guys, it's so great to get the perspective of other people and of siblings as well! I definitely don't want any of my kids to feel like one is more favoured or more special! I am conscious that I am slightly more in tune with my son than his big sister - I put this down to us both being Aspie...

Thanks for your answers so far. Especially to those whose families knew when you were children that you were autistic, it's a great insight. Given I am and I wish I knew in childhood hit because my parents had no idea I don't have feelings on it being kept from me as opposed to feelings of 'what if ...

Hi all, We are new to the Aspie community. I took my son to a child psychologist because of some anxiety issues which I thought was stemming from time with his Dad (we are divorced), who has a shocking temper when it comes to our son. As it turns out she instead identified him as high functioning au...

Hi everyone, I am new to the site but was very excited to find out it exists. I have just been diagnosed Autistic/Aspergers. I am a 31 yr old married mum of three kids and my diagnosis has come on the back on my 6 yr old boy being diagnosed. I have been obsessively consuming information about what i...
