I should mention one thing as it may make me biased. I am an Aspie who is interested in pursuing medicine one day, and I was called "stupid" and another word I dare not mention throughout most of my childhood. What I do like about the show is how it shows that someone with ASD can get thr...

My mother and step-father think that "autistic" and "stupid" and synonyms. My step-father doesn't think that autistic people should have the right to vote, and will often mock them whenever the issue of autism is discussed. You know, the usual ableist bs.

I think both groups of people have their own unique struggles, and of course it really depends on the person. As for me personally, I wouldn't place myself in either group, so I wouldn't know how it is to be in either one. I desire to be around people, yet my mental battery still runs out after awhi...

I kind of have mixed feelings about it. There are things I like and things I don't like about it, but I don't expect any portrayal of ASD to be perfect. We are all different, after all, so no one will ever be able to make a character who we can all relate to 100%. I do find him to be a way better ex...

TW: suicide is mentioned. Why do I always screw everything up? There was one friend who stuck by me, and I had piss him off. Now I have no almost no one. Not only that, but a close relative of mine almost died, and I've been crying about that for the past two days. Why am I such a baby? Why can't I ...

I didn't meant it as a disease. Although the word cure kind of denotes that. It's made me who I am. Not because it defines me as a person but my autistic perspective and experiences having autism have shaped my personality. I wouldn't cure my autism either. It would be foreign to be different. I ag...

Oddly enough, I can often finish tests early, but that's because I'm so nervous about being timed that I don't take the time to examine my answers. I hate being timed.

Pulled out of public school in the 4th grade. I was supposed to be evaluated for Asperger's due to my behavioral issues, but my mother was so ashamed that she responded by pulling me out. She claimed to have "homeschooled" me, but it really wasn't that. I got no education at all after that...
