People today frequently confuse compassion and empathy. Empathy is the is the ability to share the feelings of others and is only one path to having compassion, which is concerns for the problems of others. I feel that while I have no empathy I have more compassion than the average person. May I re...

I would recommend reading the book "Against Empathy" by Paul Bloom.

Compassion and empathy are not the same. Bloom points out just how overrated empathy is.

Also, I think a lot of NTs who claim that they have a lot of empathy really don't. They just wish they did.

At age 58 I have been diagnosed with Aspergers. I though it would be a major relief to give a name to the way I have always been. In some ways it has, but it does not change you. I have been getting counseling and that is helping for me to understand myself and where I have been. But there is pain t...

I generally like the least amount of clothes that will keep me modest, and as loose fitting as possible.

I am a man with daughters so I have to be careful.

The last 2-3 years I have been given duties that require a lot more meetings and working with a group. I have had a very hard time adjusting to these new parts of my job. I have had...

I agree about taking off or looking over glasses. But if your eyesight is 20/20 that won't work. I think I have had some success scanning my gaze back and forth around the person's face, centering on the eyes with intermittent very brief contact.

I have been talking with others at work about this lately and NOBODY seems to like the open cubicles, even NTs. Apparently upper management thinks people are less likely to goof off if they are being watched. Of course it has the opposite affect as it makes most of us less efficient. Of course it is...

This is a major problem for me as well. The open office space is supposed to encourage collaboration but in reality they encourage people to have conversations with people several cubicles away. Worse for me I feel like I am always on display. I would like my desk to be a private place to work, but ...
