Carlos, Yes, he is indeed doing a lot of good things. About the grandstanding. I don´t think it is grandstanding to admit being on the spectrum. This like reverse pathology of diseases and conditions, that walfare societies have become. That is a problem. The system is always finding new ways to val... |

I am not here to defend Musk, or saying all he has done is perfect, or that he is perfect. Just saying that the criticism he gets is just people regurgitating things, and being childish. This seems to sensitive to the Aspie community. Very strange. |

Carlos, Ok, nice to so a little balanced post. I am pretty sure he would never say this publicly without him being diagnosed. Maybe he should have talked more about it. Still here he is talking about it in a show (not SNL). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVBAYmY8slM To suggest he said to be cool or... |

Jakki, This is so much BS. He is pouring his own money into this Starlink for no benefit, than some media decides to make some BS story up, about him being pro Russia. I mean this is not even stupidity, just plain evil. Nobody can be that stupid. Just portraying evil and stupidity among us human. He... |

BTDT, Yes, this is interesting. Also Simon Baron Cohen has interesting theory about that. What is more interesting is why that ratio seems to be "difficult" for some people. Everything has to be equal I guess. Still crazy.... At least people here are candid about Elon Musk. I mean its stil... |

Typical autism is 50/50 male and females. Aspergers is like 7 times more common in males than females. Thats very interesting. Even if we account for some underdiagnosis of female it is still 5-6 times more common in males. In my country there have been 3-4% of males under 30 years old diagnosed wit... |

I didn't say "1:1." I said "rather close to 1:1." I also stated I got my "sample" from the ratio between male and female members of WP. But I find it impossible to conceive that in any sample of 100 people with AS, that there are 100 men with AS, but only 10 women with... |

tolerance to accepct the "condition" is increasing, but at the same time society wants more conformity. Little bit paradoxical. I have no doubt that autistic people are not the only ones who find life more difficult for some of those reasons - they will catch up with many people eventuall... |

Are girls underdiagnosed? If yes, then that would surely have a big effect on the decision criteria in general? What do you think about that? Also there seems to be some PC going around when speaking about those things, although it varies a lot between countries. Also, how can a diagnosis ever be ev... |

Thanks for the input, Yes, the school system here is in most ways behind the US school system. I have personally tried both of them, it varies of course. Its a wide subject, but here the system is like an institution, or a "storage room" to meet parents needs. Maybe harsh, but its reality.... |

It is highly possible because if I look back, and see the development of his depression. He was never, or very seldomly challenged in school. At the same time he was an eager learner. Then in around 6th grade his bad behavior increased. The first years were fine, never any problem. Than he just got... |

Your son’s story seems pretty unique, I feel bad for everything he went through, but I don’t think you can draw broad conclusions on autism as a whole based on it. If the school is failing your son, it’s their fault, not the diagnosis of autism. the school system isn’t always going to be on your si... |

You are missing the point. If he had had an appropriate educational placement, and not this medicine, than probably not that attempt. Get it?? You don't know that. Do you know that? It is highly possible because if I look back, and see the development of his depression. He was never, or very seldom... |

Hi, Nice avatar, "golden girls." Just to start with some light hearted material. Well, its simple. He was put on risperdal. Few months later he tried to commit suicide 13 years old. He has been recovering since, and has had extensive physical therapy. He is now almost cured from his paraly... |

Hi, Wanted to share my son´s (15 years old) story. First of all we live in a Scandinavian country, and its an island which pretty much gives it up. My view may be controversial but I think the whole diagnosis of autism is not very good, and actually can be destructive, and is more of a cultural phen... |
