At funerals, people are rarely a comfort to the family of the deceased. The whole purpose of funerals is social. I think you shouldn't judge yourself to harshly about that. I hate funerals and try to avoid them. I also don't think you should be so hard on yourself about your career short-comings. 1....

My son's occupational therapist, when I addressed his Phys. Ed. issues, told me that he has muscle groups that work fine and others that don't. He walks pretty normally, and when I was a girl I didn't even do that right. I slumped forward at the shoulders and held my hands in this sort of limp wrist...

I don't have time to find and take all the tests, but I did take the AQ test and I thought I would score pretty close to normal, but I got a 45. Jeesh. Don't ask me what normal is!

Well, Asperger's Syndrome is a definite diagnosis, so maybe it does require a definite diagnosis, but maybe the question is how to describe people like us if we don't have a definite answer. Is there a sort of holding tank term for people who are definitely different minded, but aren't diagnosed? -Eva

Snoopy... It's OK to talk God and stuff. I understand getting swept up in thought. We all need different kinds of salvation, but I hear you about the Alphas. I can also understand everyone getting real wigged out about Christianity because the Alphas within the church are doing a real smash-up job o...

Well, I had offered homeschooling to my son, but he wants to be in school with other kids. He rejected the notion soundly (we've done that before and he thought I made him work too much). I've found two private schools that the county sometimes sends kids to when the services they need can't be prov...

I never had imaginary friends. My son did, however... a Meer cat (sp?) named "Hargar". I don't know where he got that, but Hargar was around for several years.

I am undiagnosed, but I recognized the disorder in myself before looking at my son. My son is diagnosed. ABOUT people continuing to identify themselves as undiagnosed or diagnosed. Most of us who are undiagnosed are pretty honest about that and the realities of diagnosis. Sure there are people who ...

I ran funny and was made fun of. My son also thinks he's running normally, but he looks quite odd. I think that's what I must have looked like too - I thought I was a terrific runner. It's like Abe from Abe's Odessey.

I'm still embarrased to do anything physical.

Boy are we asking the wrong people for social advice!! : ) If someone wants you to join them and they're moving, they should specifically ask you something like, "There are some friends of mine. I'd like to go sit with them, would you like to come with me?" or "Come with me, I'd like you to meet som...

I am so upset. I think if I were a child, I would want an answer, I would want to know what I was facing. Now that I'm too old for a dx to make a difference, I don't care, but when I was a child, I would have wanted to know. I did want to know what was wrong with me and everyone else. I just talked ...

I passionately hate Valentines day, even though on a sensory level I really like the pretty red hearts and stare at them endlessly. My husband and I don't go in for that garbage, never did. I don't want any stinkin' flowers or chocolates. I want to be appreciated and loved every day. When I was alon...

I am an Aspie mother to an Aspie son (I have three other NT children). My son is in general education right now and he's going to middle school next year. I feel he can't manage the middle school scene at all. The special ed coordinator is recommending my son goes into special ed classes. I told her...

How are things going? I know this thread was a back there aways, but I figured I'd chime in. I have my husband and one other real friend (who is an x-boyfriend who should have always just been a friend). I'm not good at friendships and their pupose for existing isn't exactly clear to me. I've had pe...

The difference is I think we do it more literally and stereotypically, more likely to actually copy a character down to the details. I am right there with you. If I were good at what I was trying to do, I would have been a great method actress. I had a Robert DeNiro thing when I was about 14 (and b...
