I had the mis/fortune to come across a belgian movie a week ago. Part of me wants to get hold of a copy, the other part of me never wants to lay eyes on it again. The movie was called Ben X, and is about a teenage aspergers male living in a world of neuro-norms who just dont get it. his mother loves... |

Am faced with a situation that needs the input of others. I am a full time student who has not had a job in a few years. my working history is a nearly constant stream of failure as a result of stress and depression. most of you will probably be able to identify. I chose biology because its the only... |

My melt down was not the explosive violent type, it was more just a miserable running away in tears type. |

I had a melt down a few nights ago. Ever since I explained to people why, they have been getting a quite abrupt with me and a few have even been giving me the silent treatment. Was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on why this might be happening? Its not like I insulted their mother or so... |

Most Vulcans do not supress or remove emotions, they simply control them in favour of a more logical and rational approach. They actually have quite a degree of empathy due to the telepathic ability that all vulcans have to some degree. this is why the do not approve of physical contact or emotional... |

I am soooooo glad that australians do not do the whole cheek or air kissing thing. hugging and handshaking is bad enough. The idea of someone being so much in my personal space is not cool, especially when I consider touch and physical contact to be a very intimate thing. Ick! That would be as bad a... |

How do I deal with being alone? I am not really sure that I do deal with it... Put in a post previously http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp2215804.html&highlight=#2215804 Basically: "Had a dream last night that I became part of a group of the most loving caring friends anyone could ever have. They ... |

TheKingsRaven is right, aspergers is a hardware thing, not software. Sociopathy is a software thing as a result of personal experience. Research nowadays indicates that aspergers starts to show around the age of two (assuming you know what to look for). A few different research papers indicate that ... |

Sorry, lol! The thought did actually occur to me to mention the NT=* thing but I totally forgot about it when it came time to posting. My bad! Just to clear up and so that I can say I have mentioned it: NT = Neuro Typical (someone that society considers to be 'normal') Aspie = a nickname for someone... |

I realise that making and keeping new friends is not something that is not likely to happen any time soon, but had to ask anyway. Like maybe chemists came up with some new drug or treatment regime. Brusilov: While I am appreciative that someone else is thinking with me, it is a sad thing that multip... |

I am hoping that the little quote thingies work. apologies if they dont. [quote="Rhea"]I find it interesting that a few of you have mentioned "sociopath" in this. I am slightly taken aback by that because I, myself, am diagnosed as a borderline sociopath because I conditioned myself to not... |

Does anyone have any ideas on how to turn these sad little non friendships into real life companions?
Is such a thing even possible?

Rhea, one thing I want to say at this point is that I (and no doubt many others) greatly appreciate the fact that you are willing to consider and learn. The majority of humans I have met are either narrow minded or incapable of learning. This fact alone gives you brownie points with me :-) Re your c... |
