I have recently discovered a new Aspie support group in my city. :D It's the first one of its kind in my area. 8) I am looking forward to it, but I'm not sure what to expect. :? Can anyone give me any pointers on what to expect, anything that I need to take along, talk about, etc?

I can relate to what you have written. My body is very sensitive to certain forms of sodium. One thing that I've found hellpful is eating celery. It is one of those detoxifying vegetables. And of course drink plenty of water.

I recently found out that I am Autosexual (no, this doesn't mean I like having sex in cars). An autosexual is someone who prefers fantasy and self-stimulation to real, live sexual partners. I find this quite satisfying because sex with a partner is either stressful or boring for me.

I have enjoyed pacing in circles since early childhood. I still do as an adult, but not the extent of when I was younger. Growing up, it drove my family crazy. I used to pace while listening to music and constructing complex fantasies on everything from ruling the world to being encased in concrete.

I've always done that Aspie/Autie thing where I wear excessive amounts of clothing and layers because my proprioceptive system is messed up and I need deep pressure. I've read about other Aspies/Auties that do this too. Is there a term, in the Aspie lexacon, for dressing like this? If not, let's cre...

I used to be so paranoid about looking foolish, when I was young. Then I discovered my inherent ability to make people laugh by "acting" stupid. So, I started doing outlandish things like faking a fall when entering a room full of people or cracking wise with one-liners. I got the idea from reading ...

I started out walking on tip-toe during childhood. This continued throughout school. I have also been told that I walk "a little forward" (not sure what that means). The good news is that the problem has cleared up over time. Now I'm pretty much walking like a NT.

I've always been fixated on limericks/verse about animals. Here are a few of my favorites: A panther's like a leopard, Except it isn't peppered, If you behold a panther crouch, Prepare to say ouch, Or better yet, If called by a panther, Don't anther! Some primal termite knocked on wood, Tasted it an...

1) The worst thing for me is light and heat, both of which I am sensitive to. I keep the windows at my place completely covered over like I'm a vampire. Bright sunlight just seems so glaring and intrusive. 2) It's very hard for me to sit still. I'm always engaging in those "self-stimulating behavior...

Hello Jason, I also live in Tennessee. Like you, I was misdiagnosed for years. Psychologists gave me all kinds of psych labels like Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, etc. It wasn't until I started my own research that I discovered that I was Autistic/...

Hello, everyone. I'm new here. Just joined. After years of being misdiagnosed with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, I found out that I am actually Autistic/Asperger's. I'm trying to learn as much as I can right now from others who share my condition. Some of my Aspie behaviors include: Auditory P...
