This has always confused me about myself. I never learned how to read well until I was well in my mid-teens. People tried to teach me, But I never really could figure it out. I was the same with math, it took me longer then others to do math problems. However despite this I love math, and I'm a writ...

Dogs are so cute, I have a deep love for them. Anyways, when I was younger I used to stare at people, at least I think I did. For me I couldn't tell, I was just looking around I thought. But I was relentlessly bullied for staring. Now it's almost the opposite I look away when people look at m...

The left side of the picture shows the way i have eyecontact with the world around me. The right side shows the way i have contact ...

In my questioning my diagnoses post I put that I have poor eye contact with people. For the most part that is true, but with me its more like the whole human face is both a curiosity and something that I dislike. It’s a curiosity because I can look at someone and think, “hm there cute”, but also the...

Did anyone here have trouble with reading and writing when they were in their middle teens. I still can't read well, or write well. I can do pretty good typing but actually writing things on paper I avoid because I can't do it very well.

With me it’s loud noise from people, like if someone even raises their voice a little its not pain that I feel but I can over react, and start crying or get really stressed over it. Loud sounds from a band or orchestra can send me over the edge also, although I have been able to sit through the noi...

Even if I know Susan that would still confuse me for a while. If I think about it I can get it, but still people communicate strangely sometimes. Yes, I would be a rich man if I'd been given a pound for every time I'd been scolded; "Wasn't it obvious that I meant so and so?!". Just to mak...

When I take that mask off I'm usually stressed about everything and rocking to keep myself calm. Yes, that's something I understand well; and why I suggested to begin with your behaviour when you are alone. Changing your behaviour around other people is not an easy step, and not one which all of us...

Also, it is hard to say if I feel uneasy and at ease when others are away. For the most part when other people are away, I feel at ease because I feel like I can be myself more. That being said I have a deep connection with my mother and when she leaves and I’m alone then I do feel a bit uneasy bec...

So I have trouble with sound, smells, and taste. Loud or squeaky (like leather on leather sounds) cause me pain, smells (like the smell of breakfast foods) make me gag, and taste is more on the texture of the food, but because of that I’m really picky. Anyone else like this? Sensory oddities aren't...

You had no assessment? Was the doctor who declared that you have Aspergers from just talking to you briefly, a psychiatrist? Do you know what your official diagnosis is classified as? Is the diagnosis coded using ICD or DSM diagnostic criteria? Also, you said you can be a "mess" when you'...

I see, I mostly meant that you're lucky to have not been given a slew of misdiagnosis, some people get a lot and are 'treated for things they don't even have. Because this kind of thing does happen it's understandable for you or any one to be suspicious. Those that specialize in the mental health f...

That's not unusual. I think most of us have a co occurring condition. Aspies will often also be given a string of different diagnoses before it's figured out they actually have Autism. You're lucky to not having to go through that. Anxiety is pretty common with Aspergers; I also have it. I kind of ...
