"If I try to imagine something, I find it very easy to create a picture in my mind"

By imagine does it mean something imaginary I've made up or could it also refer to pictures of things that have really happened in your life? I find this question quite confusing and vague.

Thank you!

I feel more lonely the more I mask. It's strange. Since I've allowed myself to be me more, to stim more, to take the pressure off, to focus more on my hobbies, to have more alone time, to stop fighting against my real nature... I somehow enjoy my own company a lot more and am not so bothered about w...

Nah, there's too many white male Autistics for the left to get behind them.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding. In all seriousness though, I know what you're saying. They talk a lot about privilege and oppression, yet I never hear them addressing Neurotypical Privilege in society...

HATE. The combination of an enormous amount of choices, the sensory issues (bright lights, music, crowds etc) and confusing store layouts that make NO sense make me feel like my head's going to explode. It's one of the worst things for me.

Well so they say, but it's a compelling theory. The term Aspergers has been used for many years, why phase it out now? Did they ask the Aspergers community if they disliked the term and wanted rid of it?

Only if it's something I'm very fascinated in, otherwise I'm a slow learner.

Oh, some organisations still diagnose people with Aspergers in the UK. There's been British people on here diagnosed with it recently and I've also been sent lots of information about Aspergers from the people diagnosing me so I think they still use the term for now. I agree that the Aspergers label...

Aspergers is a better description of me but we can’t use that word anymore.

Why not? You can still be diagnosed with Aspergers in the UK. It's in America it's been phased out.

I know right??! ! ! Apparently the people who create those forms don't understand Autistics! :D  If you haven't sent if off yet, I would suggest that you take what you've written and at least try to organize it a bit to make it more readable. But don't leave anything out that seems relevant. I...

Send it exactly as is. Part of what they are looking at is not only that you answered but how you answered. The fact that you wrote a thesis basically is a sign that shows that you could be Autistic. I did the same thing. I had to fill out a form for my disability case and they gave me five lines, ...

I've been referred for a diagnosis and the service have sent me a questionnaire to fill out about my symptoms and such. I typed up everything about my current situation, my symptoms in general and my early years, but when I looked back at it I realised it was insanely long! Like, 16 pages and quite ...

Then again, with advances in technology couldn't the cars be designed to just play the engine noise when there's people close by on the curb? Or blind people could wear an ear piece that the car noises came through, same with bus/train announcements. The powers that be probably don't care enough abo...

It's for blind people. Unfortunately a lot of things that have helped the blind have the unintended consequence of making life worse for Autistic people. Just like the busses and trains here having to loudly announce every bloody stop and various other things. I miss the days when the busses and tra...

One of the British posters on here said their brother was recently diagnosed with Aspergers even though it was meant to have been declassified here in 2013 and I also recently received information about Aspergers from the Autism service the doctor referred me to... the leaflet tells you about Asperg...

I'd like to know this too.

I think the ear muffs are better than noise cancelling headphones as I always see low functioning Autistics with the most severe sensory issues wearing them.

I think I read on another thread someone who had a heartrate monitor that would buzz if it got too fast. That helped them identify when they were starting to get stressed, so they could leave the situation. Maybe something like that would help? It would also help you identify more triggers. Hmm, I ...
