Hi, a friend of mine has a male friend, aged late thirties, who has a son with ADHD. He has recently been dx himself, and is taking ritalin 3x daily. I have read into this, about the ritalin and the lack of dopamine etc. My question is, he seems very off the wall when he takes it, and we were wonder...

thanks for your replies..I did go to the link just now. He doesnt have the physical characteristics of PWS, infact he is tall for his age, and seems to be developing sexually quite normally. But as you say, maybe he has it mildly, some children do not have it genetically but an accident can cause th...

when he/she is full. My 13 year old would continue to eat unless I said no. A few years ago, for example, he would eat 10 slices of bread at lunchtime and still be hungry. He has a lovely shape now, and is 5 ft 7, so I know he will have a large appetite. But I feel very guilty when I say no, sometim...

Interesting topic, not sure I agree with the breastfeeding theory, but thought I would post my relationship as an NT (i think!) mother to a 13 yr old Aspie son... Yes I breastfed him for 6 months, same as my NT son...I really enjoyed the closeness of this. I also rocked him to sleep in the daytime a...

Thanks for your replies, it REALLY helps me. It also makes me feel guilty that maybe I haven't been the right mum for him for all these years. I couldve been more accepting of him. Postpaleo..I think his dad is an Aspie and I would say that he does make enormous demands on him, he finds it more diff...

 so glad to have found this thread. Mealtimes are sometimes a nightmare. He is 13 now, and sometimes just forgets he has a knife and fork and picks it up...I hate saying anything because it turns it into a battle, and who wants that. It makes it worse that my 9 year old NT has perfect manners. ...

Some days all I hear is "why does he act like a baby" from my husband directed at my 13 year old AS son. Hes extrememly bright and 5 foot 7, so it looks even stranger when he acts like this.

Trouble is, where I can let it go over my head, my husband has AS and the noises drive him mad lol.

This has been a worry for me for so many years. My son (13) has Aspergers, and he hardly ever shows any expression that he is happy. As a toddler, his face would never show delight on rides etc, and at Christmas, my husband and I were forced to sit straight faced when he opened his presents...we wer...

My 13 year old son also used to do the waking between 2-4am every night..it drove me round the bend, knowing he was awake, I couldnt sleep myself. He still wakes early, especially if he has a new game on the computer! He now shouts about 11pm every night in his sleep, sometimes he will run around, h...

Like someone said, the fact that you are concerned about it makes you a compassionate person. I am NT, but when my boys were born, I wasnt at all interested. I felt no love at all, they were strangers...I grew to love them. And if you start to hold her etc you will create the bond. She will know you...

This is something I have wondered about for years. I live in England, so anyone who knows a make of omega 3 which is good, please let me know. I am confused about omega3, omega6, 9 etc, which should you give your child. And should they have a good multivitamin? Does zinc or iron make a difference......

I would have to say yes to this, our AS teenage son has one. It is their for his safety, and we feel better being able to contact him when he is out. He knows it is not for chatting to friends, he can use the landline for this which I pay a flat rate for and he can talk all day if he wants. I put £1...

Hi Wafta, hugs to you, my son is 13 also and I know how difficult it is. He goes to councelling, weekly, that was set up through our GP. Sometimes, I have found that when my son thinks something is really big, it turns out not to be. I know that doesnt help him, but it might help you relax a bit. My...
