Something i've noticed compared to chatting with NT people is that all aspies i've texted write really long and well worded paragraphs. It's something I haven't done myself as before I got diagnosed I was used to only texting NTs and they tend to text in a very different, slackier way. Maybe it's ju... |

1. "You will never get taken seriously by authorities because you don't look autistic or act handicapped enough". 2. I asked for very mild anxiety meds as I don't like meds and I don't need anything heavy. The doctor promised me mild stuff and said I dont need more and then he prescribed m... |

Well there are Facebook groups if you use Facebook. In my country there's at least two groups for people with ASD to get in touch with others looking for a partner. It's free and the only disadvantage I find with it is that the ages are very mixed and you've gotta be lucky to find people in your are... |

I have 3 friends at a distance. Two of them diagnosed aspies, the third has obvious aspie-traits. One of them I only rarely chat with because he has little social energy but we used to meet quite often before he moved even further. We send very long messages to each other though to make up for that.... |

My two closest friends who are my only friends also diagnosed with aspergers live far from me. One lives 9 hours away and the other 2 hours but he recently moved as far away as my other aspie friend to study for several years. Before he did that we could meet multiple times a year. I only have 1 fri... |

I am a woman with aspergers and I also believe myself to be on the asexual scale because i've had relationships without wanting to have sex though I am attracted to men. I like all other forms of intimacy in a relationship but I avoid sex. This complicates dating. Everyone thinks sex is extremely im... |

I have experience with Manic Depression, if this is indeed the pertinent diagnosis. I will try and give you objective advice. In the manic stage, I have seen families destroyed because of financial debts of astronomic proportions, but these were high income families and I doubt that anyone of low o... |

The lack of empathy and understanding is shocking and reinforces the social stigma society has against people with mental illness. Say if the guy had cancer or some other illness. Would you just walk away, tell him to man up and get over? I'm sorry if it came off that way. I have experience of ment... |

Introverts are more likely to be depressed than extroverts. Introverts are often misunderstood by the world and have fewer friends to provide support. It is hard dealing with depression on your own with no support. Extroverts are often friendlier, happier, open minded, talk a lot and are more outgo... |

He's told me he can't stand feeling lonely, that makes his depression worse. Hummm. Must admit I'm not altogether liking the sound of this. I wonder if he'll still be able to accept the space I need sometimes. So do I. But I don't think there's actually a law that prohibits you from raising that as... |

I've just never in my life managed to attract someone without mental illness. The ones I attract without it I feel no chemistry with. Yeah, I can identify with that. On the one hand, obviously it could prove a toxic recipe for disaster, but on the other hand, it could just indicate a positive (or a... |

Be firm with your bundaries. Care for yourself first. Take time to examine your own feelings and needs. They are important and you need to stand for them. A tendency to fall for mentally ill people may be related to tendency to codependence. Don't fall into that trap. I don't fall for them on purpo... |

I know a man with diagnosed depression and we've recently started dating. He is also very extroverted and likes to hang out in large groups of people and he doesn't get tired from that! I am introverted and have social anxiety. So far i've never gone with him to hang out with friends and i've told h... |
