Thank you for the support. I fear that your comments are quite true. I have to decide if this is what I want to live with for the rest of my life. Divorce is out of the question as there’s no way I can afford to live on my own a AND pay alimony which he will be entitled to since I have been the brea... |

I hear you. This is of my own making, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with. I would LOVE to be someone’s princess for a change, instead of being Cinderella. But this is ‘t about me, it’s about him and how to make my marriage be less work. In his own way, he does love me and tries to show... |

Hubby’s projects have cost many 10s of thousand of dollars over the years. Including a 1968 Volvo P 1800 in pieces in our garage that he insists he will finish one day and a fully functional 1967 :Mercedes that was a daily driver is being left to rust in the driveway because it needs a master brake ... |

I just became aware that our difficulties in our relationship are due to his Aspergers. I took the test for him (I know him really well and am good at predicting his behavior) and “he” scored 36 out of 50. He is rigid and angers easily. How do I broach this to him? He is 72. Do I involve his kids? ... |

It's kind of how people in their late teens, 20s and even 30s make you feel. Where I come from, the attitude is "you haven't lived if you've never had a mad drinking sesh". And it makes you feel lonely and boring if you don't ever drink. It sucks living in a culture where the drinking and... |

I love the idea of a NT and Spectrumite exchange. I want to thank all of our NT's who come here to try to understand us as well. This kind of thing has been my dream. As an NT "newbie", I came her to find out how to keep my Aspie happy and how to create a closer bond between us. If that's... |

Lucky ducky!! My dad was a great guy too. He just was not demonstrative at all. Neither was my mom so maybe that's why I crave intimacy and am troubled that I don't have that with hubby. |

Thank you for the perspective. You painted the exact picture of our relationship with you second scenario. I am so excited to have something concrete that explains our life that I am itching to share...but as your scar illustrates, he might not appreciate this nearly as much as I do. and yes, he wi... |

I defend him ALWAYS. Run interference for him with the outside world and explain when he does something callus. I constantly demonstrate that I care about him and want the best for him and love him. He gets virtually everything HIS way. We only eat where HE likes to eat. We only go to movies HE lik... |

People with Asperger's aren't necessarily like Sheldon Cooper....
Even Sheldon "gets it" many times and bows to social graces like offering a hot beverage to be comforting. |

It doesn't sound pure Asperger's. I mean, he might have Asperger's and some narcissistic tendencies, the way you describe him. Hard to tell just from a few forum posts, of course, it's only a few sentences from your perspective. Check out yourself for codependent tendencies, you seem to take the gi... |

Married to a suspected Aspie: he is highly intelligent and makes what he deems "Humorous" jokes at MY expense in public. When I or the friends we are with call him on it, he angers and breaks off the friendships. In his world you are either "for" him or "against" him. H... |

First off , thank you to everyone who replied. this is new territory for me and I am treading lightly and learning. We have been to counseling which helped until I lost my biggest account and we couldn't afford it anymore. I am a peacemaker and beside being NT (is that the correct term?), I am also ... |
