I just found this: TSA Notification Card Probably just what I need. Whatever else you do, you should notify them that you are touch-sensitive, and you might want to explain that you have autism or give them an autism-alert card. That won't stop them from searching you if you get flagged or randomly ...

I like hugs. A lot. But I am unhappy with them if they come unexpectedly and then I sometimes reject them. Then I regret it, because I might have enjoyed the hug.

Thanks for the responses. I do not have a formal diagnosis, so a letter from a doctor is not possible. I'm not sure what a good alternative is.

I'm going on a trip (by myself) and for the first time in a very long time I'll be traveling by plane. This is probably stressful for anyone, but I am determined to get through it. My biggest concern is actually that I have heard that the airport security people sometimes have to give pat-downs. I a...

Would it bother you if no one said much of anything about your mother's death? That would be fine. If people don't know, they might say something insensitive. If they do know, they might say something too sensitive. I called a coworker and explained the issue to him. He offered to tell a few people...

A minute ago, I asked how you liked math. Now I'm asking, are you any good at math?

Do you like math? I get the impression that people's opinions here tend to be on the extremes.

I think I've messed this up pretty badly. The person at work hasn't told anyone. I'm at home skipping out on a meeting (it's okay, they canceled it anyway due to lack of interest). Am I supposed to tell everyone I work with and everyone I know? Every time someone at work has a relative die, I hear a...

I didn't take the quiz. I didn't like the questions. When I played D&D, I insisted on being lawful good. That is how I saw myself at the time and how I wanted to be.

Thanks wsmac, you seem to understand me. I think those are good too. I feel a lot better now. I came up with a plan. I sent another message to the person at work, clarified that it was my mother who died, and asked whether she has told anyone else. Meanwhile, I plan to work at home for the next day ...

I love museums. Visiting them can be physically exhausting, but it is often energy well spent. It would be nice to able to go for just an hour or so, but by the time you spend $8 on admission, you feel like you need to stay all day to get your money's worth. It would be nice to have some sort of sea...

Thank you all for your thoughts. I appreciate it. My condolences to those of you who posted who recently had someone die. I'm handling the loss just fine, it's the sympathy that I can't handle. You see, I'm sort of an emotional ret*d. I don't feel emotions the same as other people. Some emotions I c...

Thanks. Yup, she died peacefully. And without pain, which was a big deal for her. I wonder if I should mention that to people.

My mother died. She was elderly and had been ill, but it was looking like she might eventually make a recovery. Nevertheless, it seemed very sudden to happen when it did. I am expecting a lot of "I'm sorry" and so forth and I'm not sure what the proper response is. Also, is there anything else I nee...

Telltale from whose point of view? Are you trying to determine whether you yourself have AS, or whether someone else does? The diagnostic criteria are designed to diagnose other people, based on visible signs. There are other things, which are hard to see because sometimes people misinterpret someon...
