I'm really bad at going out and meeting people too. After I run out of canned script (ie, small talk) I can't keep conversations going. Actually, that was one of the reasons I got dumped, because I am a poor conversationalist. But in the meantime, I've just isolated myself with my cyclical thoughts....

Yeah, I only have about three people I can talk to and one of them was my ex, so I cannot talk to her. I'm estranged from my immediate family, but can call my grandma on the phone if I need to (but I hate the phone and she's hard of hearing--the combination of me not knowing when to talk and her not...

I suspect that when I date someone, they become a special interest to me. I obsess over them, even months after we break up. And I freak them out. And then they don't want to be friends. Right now, my ex girlfriend asked me to leave her alone for a while after contacting her and generally acting uns...

:D Thank you all for the reassurance. I don't feel quite as anxious about it anymore...or in the dark (at least no more than usual!) :)

I'll make sure to be mindful of boundaries...because I'm not so great with boundaries sometimes.

Again, thank you for all your comments.

Really? But I don't want to scare her off because I really like her. If I scare her off, then maybe she won't even want to be my friend... I'll give it a few weeks, I guess, before I make any decisions. I don't usually "pursue" women, in fact, this is really the first time I've put my mind to pursui...

I posted a thread a while ago about a woman that I liked and I thought she liked me too...but we're both awkward (and I'd place bets that she's an aspie too). She was my math professor a few semesters ago, and is 8 years older than me. There's no issues with her being my former professor at my schoo...

Lot's of possibilities there...haha. So I more than likely have Asperger's...I score really high on the Aspie quiz and generally identify as someone with Asperger's. I haven't gotten an MRI but I will at some point. My situation: I am terribly attracted to my very awkward former mathematics professo...

His voice is really tinny. I used to find it really annoying but a well-trusted friend at that time told me to pay attention to the lyrics. And I did. But sometimes I have to turn the treble down a bit still.

It is really annoying that I have to explain everything to them. I tell them I think I have Asperger's and they expect me to act like a caricature of Autism. And then I have to explain it all and give them links so that they might research it themselves.

my main special interest is time. time travel and the physics associated (for the layman!) the second is probably AS the third is probably the weather, like tornadoes and such. things associated with barometric pressure. the fourth is probably mental disorders, along with them, neurological disorders.

it does make most people uncomfortable. there's often a change of subject soon after the mention or explanation. or much silence!

Does anybody else have a specific special interest in the band The Mountain Goats?

I have 487 Mountain Goats songs on my hard drive.

I am certainly noticing more and more things. But I think I have been rampant lately in displaying several things, now that I know why I shouldn't have to display otherwise. Eye contact: since realizing I am probably an Aspie I have been more and more likely to not make a lot of eye contact, because...
