Hey! I am interested in playing D&D but have no real-life acquaintances with that interest, and I haven't had success randomly trying to join groups on places like Roll20. Anyone out there a DM or a player in a group looking for more members? Any suggestions on where to find places that aren't p... |

I'm a new mom with a 3 month old; it is... interesting. I am lucky to have a fairly engaged, neurotypical partner. I can generally tell him when I'm overstimulated and he checks in so I can check out. Sleep deprivation is tough; I tried breastfeeding, then pumping, but I was hitting "empty"... |

I toe-walked until middle school when I got teased for it and stopped. Never had foot issues. I don't remember feeling like it was a sensory thing; it just felt right. |

Smarts can be measured in so many different ways. I have had my IQ measured twice that I know the results of (my current employer tested but did not share my results). The lower of the two was 147, the other only a few points higher. I missed one question on the SAT. I won a scholarship to a small p... |

Welcome! I can relate; lots of aspie/autistic traits are written off to being "off" because of brilliance, as mine were. It has been nice hearing similar stories on these forums. I hope you find that here too! |

Law enforcement, specifically investigations. This was (is) my special interest, and I am deeply knowledgeable regarding my area of investigations which involves complicated and sometimes contradictory laws. Pros: Being super detail oriented and being able to sus out deception from a lifetime of scr... |

Some days; I had so many aspie behaviors as a child, even for a female, I had some typical "male" presentations and still wasn't diagnosed. My therapist says pretty much no females were diagnosed before the early 2000s because it was still seen as a male condition. I wish I had been so tha... |

Just cut it! If she doesn't care, neither should you. My mother forced long, elaborate hairstyles on me for years, contributing to many breakdowns. I have had a pixie cut my entire adult life and couldn't be happier with it. I wish the image hadn't mattered to her so much. |

I was forced as a child to maintain my extremely thick curly hair down to my waist. I remember getting awful headaches from it, especially when it was forced up into bows and such. My extremely feminine Southern mother had a collection of hundreds of bows on awful huge metal clips she would pull all... |

I understand the OP, as personally I've been having a long and difficult adjustment period following the recognition that I was never going to be able to change myself enough to achieve what I had considered appropriate life goals. In some ways, I'm still struggling to get over a long-established i... |

i watch tv series which is my favourite thing to do. right now i'm watching vampire diares. but it distracts me from the problems, it doesn't make them go away. it would be ideal if i had a real connection with someone, not online but in "real life". and no amount of tv can make lonelines... |

I was diagnosed Level 2 Autism in 2018, and Combined ADHD in 2020. Despite being content with my Autism, I felt upset that my family and teachers hadn't been more active at seeking professional support or diagnosis when I was younger. They knew I was struggling and that I was very different from my... |

Thanks, Jiheisho, that was a good read. I like the equipping vs. fixing analogy. I know I was never NT, I just harbored futile hope that I would be. I am working to adjust my thinking, but that is 29 years worth of self-perception and goals that have to be recalculated, which is a lot. I was just di... |

I too struggle with depression. It is overwhelming when you start considering how isolated we all are and how superficial most relationships are. I have to remind myself it is OK to be alone and work - really work - to be grateful for the few people I do have. Do you do anything to help when you are... |

While 7 out of 10 days I am happy to be diagnosed (knowing why I'm odd, that it is OK, and that there are others like me), about 3 out of every 10 days I find it depressing. I discussed why with my therapist and I told her I always thought there would be something in my life (enough academic or care... |
