I figured out something that might seem obvious to some but was kind of a big deal for me! Context: In the past, I've often had issues with flatmates not communicating their needs and then one day randomly accusing me of not doing this or that etc. Basically, expecting me to mind read because it's c...

@G 2.0--Thank you. I very definitely struggle with saying 'no.' Assertiveness is not my strong point. Which I guess leads to another question, and I'm betting it's largely unanswerable and/or there are widely differing opinions on it: Say I take assertiveness training. Does that count as masking, t...

1) What does your autism look like? How do you think your diagnosis differs from the male experience? Not quite sure but I guess I display classic autistic traits. I'm more emotional and openly anxious than some of the men I've met who had autism at University. Then again, I also have ADHD and I did...

oki so here's my take :D 1. Why does camouflaging/masking require more energy/induce anxiety in aspies but not NTs? because you're going against your nature/disposition. Maybe you've noticed that interacting with other aspies (whom you get along ofc) might be more chill than interacting with other p...

I relate, I think I have some sort of OCD related to social anxiety. Like I'm fine on my own but around people I have a history of really debilitating intrusive thoughts - violent, sexual (I'm basically asexual so that's ironic) and thought contamination. Or at some point, I had the unnerving though...

Graduating college and becoming unemployable is a sad future that a lot of Autistic people may face if they waste their time studying. There are far too many graduates and not enough jobs. An Autistic person is socially challenged and is unlikely to form a network that is needed to become employabl...

I couldn't find an appropriate topic home so thought I'd write here. I don't know if anyone else can relate, but I have been struggling for a few years to adapt to my living situation and have been often changing flats. Mostly, due to me making mistakes in finding the perfect living environment that...
