I have two ideas, maybe helpful 1. I went back to college at age 42. I think it can also be done at 52. I needed a career change. It was exciting to graduate with my master's and then go on the job market for something new that I am interested in doing! 2. Have you considered religion or spiritualit... |

Well I hear what you are saying and you have every right to be frustrated. One thing is, if you made different choices, you might be wondering now, oh what if I had spent just a little more time trying to fit in? Maybe I could have this, this, and that. Right now, you know that you gave acting like ... |

Yeah, this is masking. And the problem with masking is that you can lose your sense of who you really are. It is dark! And it's a disaster when you're in a relationship with someone who likes the masked you and not the real you. I used to think that no one would love the real me. But to my surprise,... |

Nice poem. I've always thought about myself as an ugly flower. And I really appreciate being able to just stay in the meadow!! |

If you read the original post, she said she wears it for "deep pressure" -- because she has sensory needs. I wear shapewear for sensory needs too. I call them my "hug tanks." You can buy "compression shirts" for autistic kids but not for adults, but shapewear is basical... |

Joe90 ... don't believe the haters. It's totally normal and expected to feel jealousy. It's an emotion, you don't control it. You are allowed to feel it and can't stop feeling it anyway even if you wanted to. People who say otherwise are just stuffing their emotions and denying their true feelings e... |

I think my ability to have babies and feed them is a kind of superpower! Granted, all female mammals have this superpower -- it's not an exclusive superpower. That being said, in my experience parenting is MUCH harder than pregnancy. And I didn't have easy pregnancies. Parenting is so difficult. Kid... |

I don't really have an answer, but I just want to say I understand the challenges you're facing. As you know from your own experience, things get worse from 15-35 and then it's easier to get a diagnosis because you're more obviously struggling. It's too bad that we have to fail before getting the he... |

I like to wear short skirts that aren't tight, but instead are pleated or a-line or stretchy. Underneath them I wear men's boxers. You can buy women's undershorts but they cost double and are basically the same thing. I think I look really good, without being too revealing, and nothing bugs me senso... |

I understand the feeling of being "all in, or what's the point?", but now that I'm older I have kids and my boyfriend has kids, and we have to be respectful of their feelings and needs. So we can't just move in together and try to "Brady Bunch" things. (That reference is to an ol... |

Wow, this is nice. Unfortunately, my NT daughter regularly laments having an ASD mom. And she does have another mom -- a stepmom -- whom she prefers. |

So I stim, which I think is a huge turn-off. But I suppose it saves me from harassment.
Until I met my now boyfriend, who said, "I think it's cute when you chew your tongue" ... and I was like OMG you are perfect!! |

Well, when I say I used to have vaginismus, that's because my vaginismus was cured by pregnancy / delivering a baby. Labor was awful but I got an epidural which helped tremendously. I also got an episiotomy but I didn't feel it at all -- anesthesia really worked. And after labor, I healed up and the... |

I still struggle with this. But my focus now is my body's functionality, not it's appearance. My body does a lot for me, and my body houses my soul.
Also, I love makeup and find it a huge confidence builder to "do up" my face. |

I used to have vaginismus so I understand how much pain you feel. A nurse who actually understood and took it seriously gave me a lidocaine cream that I could apply to numb the whole area before the smear test. That really helped. |

Hey, there is a good book called "Knowing Why" about adult-diagnosed autistics. You might want to take a look. |
