Yes, both by my father and my teachers. Thankfully I just got a 504 plan, so the latter isn't as much of an issue. My father has always struggled with accepting my more secluded lifestyle, but that's not his fault. I've struggled more and more in regards to group work as I've gotten older, and in a ...

Just out of curiosity, how many of you took an IQ or other aptitude test as part of your ASD assessment? I might have to ask my mom to unlock the filing cabinet to get a peek :P I don't think IQ is a definitive measure of a person's entire intellect, but it can come in handy for gauging one's potent...

Can anyone else relate? My father & sister both have Tourette's syndrome (moderate for my dad, mild for my sister) and I've always been at odds with both of them. It seems that my aspie behavior & their tics seem to irritate the other. I've met several people with ASD at my school over the p...

Probably in the 120-125 range, judging from a bunch of aptitude tests we used to do in elementary school. Certainly not "gifted" unless I'm somehow a 2E. It's nice to have a bit of an edge above others in the noggin department, since it compensates for some of my ASD. I'm glad that I'm not...

Perhaps that title comes off as a bit pretentious, but I can't seem to come up with a more reasonable word to describe it. I'm gonna try to break it down. I see the outside world and my internal world as two seperate things, with me on the inside peeking out. If you've ever heard the phrase "yo...

It's a mixed bag, really. During elementary school I was actually quite popular, but not exactly at the top of the food chain. I think even back then they knew something was a little off about me, but I was able to ease their concerns with humor and whatnot. Cracks really only started to show in mid...

I'm gonna be a little blunt with this. Most "low-tier" mental illnesses such as ADHD, depression, and anxiety are extremely easy to get diagnosed with, and people can even fake them sometimes. Usually it's just a survey or two, a 10 minute talk, and you're good to go. With something like A...

Doesn't really matter.

I'm at the age where stuff like 504 and IEP programs are most important. I'm qualified to ask for one since I've been diagnosed with ASD(Lvl. I) & mild anxiety. What should I know when thinking of ideas that can help me in school? When is a request considered unrealistic? What were yours & d...

I've grown up with them and unlike a lot of other people with ASD, I just don't really have an opinion on them. It's more of a fascination & confusion kind of thing. They speak the same language as me, they go to the same school as me, they have fun just like me, and a whole bunch of other stuff...

I've somewhat lost my ability to think in pictures over time. It's still possible, but it takes much more effort.
