I'd vote masking! When I do this, I'm practically acting. Putting on a costume and behaving in a way that a character in that costume would behave. I view each of my outfit changes as a different character.

There seems to be 2 sides of empathy - the ability to share someone else’s feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation - the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Aspies have a reputation (and by reputation, I mean listed as an offic...

But ecologically, I personally think that geological and evolutionary timescales which the ecosystem works on are incompatible with the short timespans of financial markets. So there's a "long wave" marxist theory of economics (market cycles), but even that is pretty short in ecological t...

I suppose it's down to a combination of brainwashing by the elite and betrayal / ineptitude from the so-called left-wing representatives. I came to that conclusion, I think aspies have a degree of immunity to brainwashing. I do get brainwashed and am sometimes happier that way, but I figure it out ...

The thing is that todays Russia is not Communist, yet it is still being ruled by a dictator (Putin). China is very much capitalist, despites its ruling party name (Chinese "Communist" Party). It's not their former communist ideologies which made the authoritarian, rather it has to do with...

Dr Beverly Hofstadter from the big bang theory, her approach to parenting is hilarious but unfortunately resonates a bit too much with me. Dr Temperance Brennan from bones, her logical approach to all things was brilliant. Wow that was a scarily short list. We need more stories with aspie females in!

Hi all, I figured out I am autistic right after having my first child (because I was struggling with the lack of alone time, the sensory issues, and having trouble making mom friends). Have many of you had similar experiences? Yes, yes and yes. I've had 2 boys and 2 very different experiences, but ...

decision making is not my specialty, deciding what to dinner is difficult, deciding which motherboard I wanted for my PC took over a month and deciding over my life may just take the whole life. I've been wanting to do this, then that, then this for god knows how long. Is true however that the deci...

Hi everyone, thanks for reading first of all. I could use some aspie feedback as I've been a bit stuck for a while now and I really don't like it at all. You sound like you were stuck, but the fact that you've realized this and are starting to think about the future means you've already taken the f...

I am not physically alone. In fact, I'm never actually physically alone - I am married and have a small child, and also have regular contact with my parents who watch our kid while I work. But I feel alone. Every time I get interested in something or excited about something, I don't tell any of my ...

Snap. I've experienced that, to the point where I check my zoom to make sure I'm not on mute and people can actually hear me. I'm in my 30s, so older and have had more jobs, but it's a pattern. I've also had the range running from ignoring to actively excluding. I don't think there is a single probl...

Manipulative exercising unscrupulous control or influence over a person or situation. Unscrupulous having or showing no moral principles; not honest or fair. So I'm going to vote no, you are not manipulative. I have the same struggles, I find that people are very superficial. After I gave birth I w...

I derive my self esteem from the compliments or criticism provided to me by others. I am not emotionally independent or confident. Nor do I WANT to be. I love the admiration and attention from others. That is something I rarely get in my line of work. I'm an IT guy, and I do most of my work remotel...

I didn't want to annoy people with a new thread so I'll just say it here. I just realized I don't have any friends. It took me a while of denying it, and trying to say that people who don't text me back are just busy, but I actually have no friends at all, and haven't for years. I go on the search ...

For decades. In fact I don't remember a time when a corporate promise has come to fruition. I assumed that's how it works and that's just normal. I get it all the time "you'll get promoted if you work harder" or "you'll get a pay rise if you meet some goals that aren't recorded anywhe...

Of course you can have crushes, you know this, you will and it can be fun. Your dad's point about studies however is correct, a crush will be fleeting, but grades will be with you throughout your life and so it will benefit you to focus and minimize distractions. We struggle enough without complicat...
