Thanks, everyone, for the invaluable input. I'm tending towards not continuing formally diagnosis - I've been scrutinized and screwed over horrifically by insurance companies and Social Security, and generally feel I'd rather be the captain of my own ship rather than be cargo on someone else's. Is there any economic advantage to having a formal diagnosis? Tax break, medical reimbursement, or the like?

I'm trying to justify the cost of travel, screening, etc. But other than being told what's plainly obvious, is there a point?

I know that there is no English Language Council regulating grammar, but there are some thing up with which I will not put. (Guess what the first one is.)
