I've run into similar. We've had success with co-op games. Board games like 'Pandemic', where it's players versus environment, story-based games like RPGs, and even video games that allow co-op (team) play rather than player-versus-player help. It lets us 'compete' and introduces the idea that you d... |

Hi all, I just finished an article on autism and computer science, reporting on the MSNBC report about companies that specifically hire aspies for the comp sci field, and what others think of it. It's at: http://www.scientificblogging.com/daytime_astronomer/autism_computer_science Since I'm a scienc... |

Indoor rock climbing has been great for my son (age 8)... it's very much a 'parallel play' sport, in that several people can climb the same (indoor gym) wall even if they are at different levels of ability, without recrimination. Very much a "go for your personal best" sport, rather than a win/lose ... |

Hi, I'm late to this thread, but with school starting-- I miss summer! I love being home with the kids, and the kids get more relaxed. I'd rather hear DS say "what can I do" twenty times a day, than "I hate school". I admit I played the antisocial dad a bit-- me and the kids in our own bubble, rathe... |

Hi, To minimize annoying sound, we've had good luck with shooter ear muffs-- the ear projection used at gun ranges for shooting. They look like headphones but with no cord to tangle, and they're very comfortable. About $20 online. And they are awesome at lowering sound levels while still letting you... |

Hi all, My kids love watching 'A Charlie Brown Christmas', and love Snoopy especially, and watching it for the umpteenth time I realized why. I think Snoopy is an aspie. He has prefers to interact with the world in his own imagination. He reacts inappropriately in social situations by spontaneously ... |

Hi, We went to Disneyland this summer with my 7-year old aspie + daughter + assorted family. It was perfect-- and since I hate the Cult of the Mouse, this is hard for me to admit. My son is very into riding roller coasters so it was a lot of fun. We could have done another day if we'd had time. *** ... |

Hi, thanks all, I should have been more detailed. She's 9 now, has sleepwalked since she was around 5, the sleep panic has been for over a year now. She shared a room with her younger brother until around age 6, then slept fine in her own room for about two years, then around age 8 this trouble leap... |

Hi, long time reader first time posting :) My daughter has some sort of sleep panic. If she isn't sleeping in the same room as her parents, she gets terrified and sits bolt upright in bed until she collapses into sleep around midnight... and if you try to tuck her in or turn off the light or even if... |

Hi, My daughter also loses her glasses a lot. I started just buying extra pairs of glasses from zenni optical online, at <$20 pair (or use a different discount outlet), and stopped worrying about her losing them all the time. Probably a bad solution but it gives me time to hope she builds up 'not lo... |
