Wouldn't their conclusion also be approximately correct for neurotypical people? The bell curve of NT IQ distribution places most in the middle. It has been widely theorized that autistic IQ distribution skews to the left (below average) despite the suggestiveness of non-pathologized models demonst... |

The number of individuals who have autism spectrum disorders (ASD) without intellectual impairment is higher than previously believed, according to recent research. Maja Katusic and colleagues examined the medical and school records of more than 30,000 individuals born between 1976 and 2000 in Olms... |

Hmm. The only autistic trait that really fits is hyperfocus. Which is why monotropism is so self evidently true to me -- it's the only model that accurately describes my experience. Hyperfocus, rules-based rigidity, evidence-based logical reasoning, etc. It comes as no surprise that a theory propos... |

I don't know why but I seem to feel that if was in a position of a job as a manager or supervisor etc it would make me feel happy, satisfied and content with the job and that I'm in charge and know what I'm doing. But a part of me feels like telling me that I can't do that level because it might be... |

I was actually diagnosed when I was a 1L. I never intended to practice and I've never taken a bar exam. Then why did you go to law school and waste all that money and time? I was recruited for my LSATs and it cost me nothing. I had an honours degree in Modern Languages and a bachelor's in Psycholog... |

What, exactly, is reduced connectivity supposed to cause..? It's been reported, but I don't know what effect it is supposed to have on the brain. But a lot of things claimed for autism don't really fit with me, so either I was misdiagnosed, or I have a different type and Aspergers should never have... |

i think it would be something like bf skinner's utopia, if only because things would be done for rational reasons & not tribal reasons. My first thought as well. In possibly his last interview before death, Skinner confessed that he no longer had any faith in (NT) man's ability to not destroy h... |

I’m not against someone viewing their condition away from the pathology model or making the best of what they have including rejection of a “cure” for themselves. I am against those who make presumptuous claims and pretend to speak for others or all autistic people in claiming “we don’t need a cure... |

Under Gardner's model, it would appear that my natural strengths are in the linguistic, visual-spatial, and logical-mathematical intelligences. I was a linguist for many years, speak several languages, and most enjoyed Contracts at law school. Those subjects require reasoned thinking, linguistic ski... |
