For us early intervention is the answer. Our daughter is 3. Therapy began at 2 & 1/2. Sophia loves it. She enjoys her therapists, wants them to come to her birthday parties. When she is getting in trouble for something at home will sometimes cry for a therapist by name. Therapy is 20 hours a wee...

Encourage him to get as much exercise as possible too. Our daughter is much younger but has similair sleep problems. When she has had alot of exercise chances are she will sleep through the night. We also use melatonin. I find it helps her fall asleep faster but dosen't make her sleep through the ni...

My favorite episode of Sophie echoing in public is when she launched into the "Are you talkin to me" bit from Taxi Driver, which she actually picked up from a Leap Frog Christmas video. However noone knows that so you can imagine the looks I got when people heard my pretty little 2 yeaar old quoting...

I don't think he had aspergers. I'm sure he had a host of issues but I don't think aspergers was one of them. I'm almost positive the raping girls on stage thing was a hoax that never really happened. A very unlikable guy but some of those songs are just so good. 15 years ago, that makes me feel old.

Thanks for all the tips. I bought some soft cotton yoga pants for her today.
I'll try sticking to soft cotton & look forward to summer when I don't have to worry so much about the shoes.

I voted none. I am really hoping to keep drugs out of the picture. If seizures become an issue then I will reconsider but, I think my daughter is too young for drugs.

My 32 month old daughter hates getting dressed. Some days are worse than other but, lately she has a screaming fit every time. I have tried letting her choose between 2 things. It dosen't seem to make a difference. She rips her clothes off as fast as I can get them on. Shoes, socks, boots...anytype ...

My daughter is 32 months & has just started seeing a speech pathologist. We will see her infrequentley & she will give us homework to work on in between visits. Therefore I will be present.

I'm sure when she is older she will go in by herself, that is what her 5 year old brother does.

As a "NT" parent I find myself lurking around here more than posting because I get a great feeling of hostility towards the NT's.

I think perhaps some people forget that like everyone on the spectrum is not the same, NT's are not all the same either.

I appreciate all the help I can get.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere recently that up to 40% of aspies experienced early language delays.
I can't find it anywhere now. In fact all I can find is the complete opposite. Was it maybe a Tony Atwood video that I saw? Anyone know anything about this?
Perhaps I dreamt it.

I found Autism Speaks to be a helpful site. The videos helped me see that my daughter was indeed autistic. With this information I can better understand my daughter, she has started ABA therapy at an early age. ( I realize ABA therapy is an entirely different debate) I hope this will help her better...

Do NT's do this? Or is it one of those obsessional things we aspies tend to crave? Yeah, I do it. I find a song I like, and I'll listen to it over and over. Eventually, after about a week, it doesnt sound the same, and I move on and do the same thing with another song. I think it annoys my AS boyfr...

I'm trying to keep score here. As someone with a 29 month old daughter who is about to begin ABA therapy. The 1 person who has actually had it thinks it's great. Have any of the rest of you had it?? The explination given here is NOT the description given to me. There is no punishment, just no reacti...
