I don't feel comfortable where I'm living since my parents died. Trying to maintain the place is a lot of work. It's an older building. It keeps having water leaks. I keep ending up having to spend a fortune in remediation and dealing with water damages. There's really no support or community there ...

I was advised by my doctor to go gluten free for medical reasons. I make all my foods from scratch and have several allergies and intolerances. So, cutting out wheat and barley is difficult. I've tried several recipes that use substitutes for wheat in common foods like breads, cookies, pies, etc. Ho...

Due to sensory sensitivity, migraines and other issues, I'm already a fussy eater. Was recently diagnosed with celiac, so now I have to cut out gluten ingredients from my already limited diet. Are there any forums for sharing recipes or ideas for what to eat? Most of the people I talk to love food. ...

I programmed in C/C++ for years, but it's been difficult to get a job in for the last decade. It's been sidelined to jobs like embedded systems or IOT and isn't used much for other things anymore. Languages like Rust and C# are typically replacing it in some areas. Even though some AI libraries are ...

Was surprised to find out that the actress Danica McKellar wrote a series of math books to help people learn more about math. Internet Archive (online library) has some of her books, so you can check them out from there. You can also check OER (Open Education Resources). Merlot and Oasis are two OER...

Making music is also a hobby of mine so I want to make my own music and insert it into the games. There are several ways to create music with the computer. The one I like to use most is to write the music in ABC notation (with a standard text editor). I can convert it to midi using abc2midi. I can ...

Sounds like you already know more about computers than most people especially since you're in the IT field. When I learned, I started by writing something and then went to the books to look up how to do things. Maybe if you started with a purpose (like writing a video game or app for a phone) instea...

Enjoy doing Tai Chi and have been doing it for several years now. Haven't had much luck meeting friends through it though. With the pandemic, I could no longer take Tai Chi classes at my local library, but was able to find some good classes online to continue to practice.

I go to local vegetable stands a lot. The bill is typically a lot more cost effective than shopping at a grocery store or health food store for similar items. Don't know if it'll help but you can download the Good and Cheap recipe book by Leanne Brown for free in PDF form and it may offer some meal ...

Check for OER (open education resources). You'll find several related to math. You can try the OER search engines at Merlot or Oasis. The SPARC Libraries and OER forum may also be useful. I've been working on some of the code for Tuxmath and I think it can be a fun way to brush up on some math skill...

So ReactOS probably isn't the best Free option to Windows, but wondering if anyone's tried some of the Windows alternatives like BoxedWine or WineBox. They're using the Wine Windows emulator on Linux or Android x86. I guess any Linux or BSD operating system that can run Wine could be a somewhat dece...

I'm a shy, petite female, close to retirement age in Florida. I enjoy science fiction and fan fiction, computer programming (especially in C), writing, singing, herb gardening and baking. Highly sensitive and won't watch horror, anything violent and can't tolerate too much news media. Like people wi...
