I forgot to add that I just don't mention it anymore. It's my own investigation and there's no point exacerbating things. |

I don't remember the first time I heard someone call a guitar an 'ax' but I liked the reference. However, I have never been able to use the term. I always have to say 'guitar', because that's what it is... Why do they call a guitar an ax - or is it axe? |

On any given day I conclude that I do not have AS, or that I may have AS, and other days I feel quite sure of a positive self-diagnosis. But one thing is consistent: the few times I have mentioned something like, "I'm wondering if I have what is called Asperger's - it's on the autism spectrum" to lo... |

Anybody obey with but the greatest reluctance when you were told to 'go and play' with other kids? I had GI Joe's, Cindy, but I preferred to play by myself. I always felt like people thought I had no thoughts of my own, so they felt they could tell me what to do and reacted with surprise when I resi... |

I asked myself why this was.
Why the need to share and be understood felt so strong but so difficult, more difficult than so many others seemed to experience. |

Suppose a child (6 or 7, give or take a year) did not intentionally have a hard time with what is called social interaction, but they seemed to nonetheless. The child always had a leaning towards playing contentedly alone - playing all the parts of a scenario - and they discovered the beauty and pow... |

With having balance problems, does anyone find that they look at the ground moreso than most people do? I, myself, have been known for running into low-lying tree branches because I am so overly focused on the ground. Granted, I don't fall very much because I am so cautious, so I miss ground hazard... |

Same with me, but I always put these things down to my dyslexia. I had trouble with ties as well, I'd sometimes forget how to do it after a sports lesson at school, that was rather hard to explain, hehe. I cannot and could not and will never be able to tie a proper tie. It took awhile to fully unde... |

Depending on how well my memory could transport an objective observer to childhood years I think it could be said that I fit all of the criteria except for the Speech Peculiarities... I just don't remember. I don't remember how I compared to others my age (we lived in the country most of the time an... |

I can see how that can be beneficial if you are dealing/evaluating a child - at least if the criteria remain consistent. But being an adult, isn't it likely or at least possible to learn ways to compensate for the deficits? Also, an adult has to go back in memory - "was I UNABLE to interact with my ... |

encyclopedias when I was 7, 8, 9... focused on the snakes and animals in general, but mainly snakes. Also the maps... and military insignia and flags of countries.
Still love encyclopedias and dictionaries and old magazines when I can find them.
Also the inner sleeves of old LPs. |

Part of the point here, is that, whether one decides they are verifiable Aspie or at the least bear traits that resemble AS... I'm having a very tough time leaving it alone. I want to get back to my writing, photography, it's beautiful outside now... Want to somehow put this new knowledge out of imm... |

Yeah but also many of us never get diagnoised professionally when were younger and whats the point when your older. As has been said, 'closure'. There is no real practical value - that I can see - to being officially diagnosed at this age. As I read I see there is no 'cure' - and I am also aware th... |

Aspergers is certainly an interesting topic to study. But as SineWave said professional diagnose is required, hypochondria is very easy in regard to mental disorders. Your site has a pseudo-intellectual feel to it, try to write something "tangible". There are things a lot more interesting than Aspe... |

Last I checked, AS manifests itself more through peculiar social interactions, trouble relating to others, or stereotypical "nerdy" obessions. If there's a correlation between motor problems and AS I'd bet it's a weak one. Motor skill problems you describe aren't particularly unusual. Beware, self-... |

When you finally self-diagnosed yourself, when all made sense and you said to yourself, "now that's settled, I can get on with life and stuff" but you kept researching and reading and hanging out on forums like this, asking questions, all the while feeling the cramping effect of time because you hav... |
