Well, he does both. LOL I know he doesn't mean to hurt peoples' feelings, but he just does sometimes. Many times, the inappropriate comments are the blurting out of a quote from a movie, book, tv show, video game, etc. If the pople hearing it aren't familiar with the source, it can just sound like a... |

The school is finally testing my teenager and has sent home a questionnaire for me to fill out. It is the GARS-2 (Gilliam Autism Rating Scale - Second Edition). Included in this questionnaire - and in a lot of the reading I've been doing about the Spectrum - are questions asking if the child makes "... |

My son returned to school today. Since his high school is on block scheduling, he has all new classes for this half of the year. I'm keeping my fingergs crossed that this half will be better. My next/last resort is homeschooling, which neither of us wants to do. |

I don't know how to copy/paste a quote from an earlier post, but this is in reference to the post by shaggydaddy - That's EXACTLY how I have to make my sandwiches. Going a bit further, the bread slices must have been next to each other on the loaf and must "fit together" on the sandwich just like th... |

I'm right there with the moms depression and being judged thing. What kills me are the people (read: family members) who go back and forth. They are either complaining about the child's behavior or saying you are too hard on them for their behavior. Never in a million years would I give someone my o... |

Thank you, everyone! I just read everyone's responses to my post and am grateful for all of you who share your experiences. Helen's referenced post/thread, as well and the descriptions in the initial post about the Attwood seminar, left me with my mouth wide open. It's like my son was the subject of... |

After three years of nothing but punishment, to no avail, I think it's time to look deeper. |

I finally was able to convene a meeting to have testing scheduled. That meeting was today. Testing will occur when the kids get back from winter break in January, so no IEP or 504 as of yet. |

I have a lot of the same questions. My son is in 9th grade and failing miserably at academics, but likes school. I think he would excel being taught 1:1, since he currently falls through the cracks because he's quiet in class and nobody notices what he is (or is not) doing. While I think he would do... |

Hello. I'm the parent of a 15 year old who was diagnosed AD(H)D at the age of 5, but I'm convinced he's an Aspie due to his behaviors his entire life and the high degree of co-morbidity. Today, I finally had a meeting with the school district's psychology department and all the teachers about having... |
