The other day, I was looking at my childhood photos and right off the bat I could tell I was an Aspie. In most of the photos, I basically have the same facial expression, like I'm freezing or something! And even in the ones where I'm smiling you can tell that it was basically an "emulation"... |

I always knew it in some form or another. It became most apparent in pre-school where I was pretty much the only outcast. It's not like the kids bullied me or anything, I just didn't have any friends. Didn't know how to make friends! Didn't even know why I needed friends as I was more than happy in ... |

Sorry for bumping this old thread. I was going to start a new one but then I came across this old post. It's mindboggling to see so many people having the exact same sensory overload symptoms as me! But to answer the question: 1. I get super quiet during overloads. No small talk, no eye contact, no ... |

I've never gone too far by being patronizing and aggressive. It's just not in my nature. There's too much aggression nowadays----in real life and on the Internet. The overall dialogue is sinking lower and lower into the Abyss Insist on being treated like you want to be treated. It might be "ph... |

Option # 3. I'm 32 years old and at this stage, I know exactly what I like and what I dislike. For a vast majority of my life, I stick with option # 1. But now, I refuse to let people dictate my life. If they like me, fine. If they don't, fine too. In fact, it's better that way, as I don't exactly l... |

Well, my rule # 1 is simple: Don't try. Don't try to be normal. It's futile. Just be yourself and hope for the best... but be prepared for the worst! Personally, I never try to mingle. Mingling is strictly a thing reserved for social animals while I'm more of a solitary creature. I mean, when was th... |

For example, I'm trying to pick my first car and for the past 24 hours or so, I'm hyper focused on cars. Reading specs sheet, looking up reviews, that sort of thing. And I'm by no means passionate or enthusiastic about cars in any way. They're just a tool for me as I actually prefer motorcycles. But... |

Hello! New user here. As the title suggests, I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's. Saw this nice, loving community and decided to join it! I guess this is where I talk a little about myself? Well, even as a little kid, I knew there was something 'off' about me. I never had any friends, never rea... |
