Well, there's a lot of middle ground between living in a small town and living in NYC. I moved to NYC in 2007, before I had any idea that I was an Aspie, seeking some greener pastures in terms of professional and educational opportunities. I make decent money at my job, but with NYC's insane cost of...

Manhattan here... I work in Midtown and live in Washington Heights.

Is it just me, or is NYC about the worst place in the universe to live for an Aspie who hates noise and crowds?

I'm generally opposed to the idea of burning books, but I'd probably be willing to make an exception for anything written by Ayn Rand.

For years, I thought there was some huge city in Ohio called Charter, because that's where all the Greyhound busses seemed to be going.

I also had the odd habit of calling my parents by their first names... I still have a very hard time simply calling them "mom" and "dad".

Living in NYC, I rely on the subway for 99% of my transportation needs. Good thing is, one of my obsessive Aspie interests concerns subways and trains, so it's usually fine for me... I've pretty much memorized all the various classes of NYC subway cars, and I can bore you to death discussing the dif...

e-harmony was sued some time ago for hiring women to reply or send 'interests' to subscribers and even got bonuses if they went out on dates with long term subscribers. all to generate positive feedback and keep subscriptions. I think that was Match.com, not E-Harmony. A few years ago I got three f...

I'm unaware of any canon law dictating the arrangement of Catholic churches, but the tradition among Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox branches of Christianit...

I often have dreams where I am the driver of a car and my view is through the windscreen. I've had very similar dreams (just had one the other night, in fact) where I'm driving. Only difference is, the windshield is usually partially obscured, like I'm driving in a rainstorm and the wipers aren't w...

GRASP.org seems to have a number of resources, particularly here in the NYC area. Does anybody have experience with this organization?

Also, I'm wondering if there are enough WP members in the NYC area that we could arrange some sort of meet-up on our own?

Ooh, well if anyone knows how to do that then let me know and I may just join. On your Facebook home page, look on the left-hand side of the screen where it says "Applications." Next to that, in smaller type, is a link labeled "edit." Click on it. On the next page, find "Groups" among your applicat...

Televised sports in general, especially basketball. Right now my roommate is closely following NCAA basketball games on TV, and I’ve been trying to figure out why I loathe that game with a passion that passes all human understanding. I’m now pretty sure it has something to do with the squeaking of t...

There's a way you can hide the groups you're in, and prevent notifications being sent to your friends about any group-related activity (joining, posting, etc.)... Unfortunately I don't remember exactly how to change the settings, but I had to do it before I joined a couple of groups that I preferred...
