I upgraded my Portastudio (4-track music recording machine) to a music computer, and found out that I could connect to the Internet on it, so I did. Mainly at first it was just to get new drivers and soundbanks for my sound card and to join a users' group for my music program (Logic Audio), but I k... |

I grew up in a relatively affluent family in the deep south (U.S.), and down here we have a class called Cotillion which is essentially a monthly etiquette class and dance for 7th/8th graders. It's targeted more towards traditional and upper-class Christians (where I'm from, that's mostly Catholics)... |

I correctly self diagnosed ASD (considering you view my official diagnosis as accurate, which one of my doctors disagrees with and believes I have ADHD/social anxiety/sensory processing disorder). Recently, though, I caught up with a girl I dated briefly in college, and she told me that after we sto... |

I doubt this is the "first", but one of the earliest examples was in fourth grade, I was tapping my fingers on the teacher's desk (I sat in a desk touching hers) and she blew up on me for being incredibly rude and disrespectful. At the time I didn't understand why, but now I realize that s... |

I OTOH would never want to flaunt some expensive possession in public. Flaunting wealth in public just seems like an easy way to be judged or envied (which can lead to people reading you wrong or theft). I have wealthy family members who don't understand why they're treated more judgmentally than o... |

There is a lot of stress associated with having those high paying jobs. I got a job that paid well but wasn't a high stress management job. I saved a enough money to retire at an early age. Many of those people with flashy stuff and houses don't have enough savings to retire. So they may have to wo... |

I hate spending money and live quite a bit under my means because I don't really care for "things" too much. I'm young (23) so there isn't too much social pressure to "keep up with the Joneses" so to speak because most of my friends make quite a bit less money than I do in softwa... |

Have you contacted the psychologist's office yet? That's odd that it would be two months after your last meeting and haven't heard anything at all. |

I'm sorry you're not getting the celebration you deserve. I'll celebrate with you, internet stranger! Luckily, my family and girlfriend both reacted well and without scathing skepticism. I met my girlfriend in the midst of going through evaluation so she was briefed on all of this from the start, bu... |

What you are describing is the exact reason I sought out an ASD diagnosis in the first place. I believe it's much like a meltdown, except instead of an explosion, it's an implosion. There is only one time I dissociate, and that is when I am in a state of sensory overload. Usually in restaurants, bar... |

One of the things that really confused me about the ADOS is how it tests for "repetitive behaviors", especially in high-masking people. My results showed that I was above diagnosis threshold for the social communication bit of it, but was sub-threshold for repetitive behaviors. What I don'... |

Tried booting my Rpi this weekend - first time. Had to flash the micro SD with an OS - was able to do that with my MacBook laptop. The usb-c hub has a micro SD slot that didn’t work but my old USB micro SD adapter works fine. The mini HDMI to HDMI looks like it works - but I am not sure. Kept fiddl... |

Unrelated, but when I was about 12 years old I met this kid who had long hair that covered his ears. He was shorter, paler, very freckled. In a lapse of social aptitude, I said "You know, you look like the type of person to get typecast as an elf in a Christmas movie." He froze up and star... |

Yes! I have four (diagnosed) autistic relatives, but they live in a different state so I rarely see or speak to them. |
