Maybe you should look up autism because there is more to it than what you described. Read deep into it because most people read a short discription about it and go "Oh that's me, I don't like to talk to people when I don't feel like it" or "Oh that's me, I tap my foot" "Oh that's me, I have difficu... |

Now that it's been confirmed I'm autistic I feel different all the time. Before I just felt quirky, and only disabled when in groups of people I didn't know. I've had problems with relationships, but I didn't see my part in it. And I thought everyone was as confused about feelings as me. I have no ... |

I've done this before, like being inside this other world and you just accept it as your own. I do that a lot with books, and movies will hang with me for a while like a shadow. I tend to imitate accents and conversations that I hear also, kind of where I learned to kind of talk to people and deal w... |

Yeah, I like Philip K. Dick and have read quite a few of his works, many of which were more like novella length, really, but anyway, yeah, the alienation and dislocation in his stories, the need to connect to make something right or real, are all conditions or situations which I can identify with. I'm fine when I'm typing stuff as well - perhaps because I'm free to take as long as I like to correct the words and because I've got everything I've written in front of me so I can easily pick up my ideas again if I happen to blank out. Yeah, I find typing so much easier as well. If I could speak ... |

I am kind of biased at the moment considering I had the worst date experience of my life last night. She was absolutely horrible to me. She treated me like dirt, absolute dirt. Its times like this that make we not want to try any more. I'm sorry you had this experience happen to you. I've been ther... |

I jumble up words a lot. If I'm at home talking out loud to myself I say the wrong words entirely or out of order, and I have a huge problem explaining something to someone at work (or complaining to a supervisor at work that I'm getting picked on again) and so it makes people think I'm dumb but I'm... |

It feels like a miracle if I get invited anywhere besides work functions. Yet I still dimly hope that I will find my 'niche'. Somehow. I don't do much though. |

If I ever became premier of Alberta or Prime Minister of Canada, I would make it so Autistics and Aspies get hired more in the public service and beauracracies. It would make our public service more efficient than what we have now with a bunch of NTs wasting precious time gossipping by the water coo... |

Intense, I'm so glad I found your post today. For the first time I don't feel utterly alone. I share so much with what you and Jul both have said and feel like it was me who said it but it wasn't. It was both of you. I too am recently diagnosed and going through a similar crisis as well, and also d... |

Jul - thanks very much for the reply, you are absolutely right nobody understands what we're going through as individuals everyone's experience is different - I guess it's the understanding that I'm looking for - in a way I've been misunderstood my whole life and it does ware you down over the year... |

In my experience, people are very cliquey in general. It seems as though the HS mentality just continues on ad infinatum throughout life. If you're not part of the in-crowd in any particular setting, then you're a nobody. The whole social networking thing seems to really exacerbate this. Lately it ... |

I just got a recorded message from the school that D. had an "unexcused absence". That's just silly -- they know darn well why he was absent! I am sorry that D. got in trouble. I don't think he deserves to be blamed for this entire incident, but that the school should see that he is not acti... |
