what annie2 said he sounds like someone who would be better off if eased into it. jumping right into it especially with words like 'syndrome' might freak him out too much. He might not hear anything else after that. I'd probably stick with somthing like you've got some MILD characteristics of autism...

I haven't told my 7 year old yet. I'm going to do it in the summer. I don't want him to suddenly get self-conscious in the middle of a school year just in case. Smaller things have thrown him out of whack for a couple of weeks at school before so it seems less risky with a few months of nice weather...

it depends what's being cured. my son's got 1, 2 max, years of innocent happiness left before he gets to the age where he'll most likely be torn to pieces by bullies. Because of the risks, I'm not going anywhere near the usual ADHD drugs even though they could probably help him a bit. But if somethi...

@MissConstrue My situation is pretty much the same as yours. I'm only 2 months into it though. For now it's been a positive and good thing. I pretty much hit as close to the bottom as you can get without losing everything so I feel relieved and thankful more than anything. I used it as a crutch for ...

it's a minefield out there

Wife: "do you like my new haircut?"
Me: "no"

I now know that answer is a mistake.

It's still a crappy haircut though.

>>associated with some very serious illnesses and issues.

does immediate intervention for these issues make any difference long term?

if not wait it out.

If so, rent a 4x4 if you don't have one and drive slow.

>>"MOMMY! Why is that lady's belly so big!?" I did that I actually said it to the woman herself - twice because they tried to explain that not all people are the same size. The second one was "I know, but you're reaallllly fat" Wasn't trying to be mean or inconsiderate, just pointing out the obvious...

some others have said it but you have to really admit to yourself you have a problem. this is fundametally different to understanding that you do or rationally analyzing your behavior and calculating that equals a problem. maybe it takes going to a group or saying it out loud. I knew I had numerous ...

have him write about things he likes or is interested in at home for practice. it slowly but surely carried over to school for our son. He wasn't writing anything in class with the 'how was your weekend' type questions but really developed his writing about trains, whales etc. with us. He's still no...

In our experience the school does the bare minimum to get them out of services or deny them outright. They're as bad as HMO's with medical services. It's backward, irritating and just ...
