My dad has Narcissistic Personality Disorder and my mother is an enabler. Recently, they mailed back all the pictures of my children I have sent them over the years with no explanation. They ask me for money at least once a month. I never send any. They have been married for 57 years and should neve...

I voted sometimes because there are times when I see how much my son struggles or what he misses out on and it breaks my NT heart. BUT, he is who he is and I love him whole-heartedly. I am afraid of how much he will struggle in his life because of things he is unaware of. When he was younger, I used...

There is a higher chance than average of another child with a spectrum disorder, but that's not necessarily going to happen to you. I have one friend with an NT daughter, a profoundly autistic son and an NT daughter (in that order) and another with an Aspie daughter and a younger, NT son. I myself h...

My 17 year old Aspie son passed his road test the first time out, but most of his peers did not and he is about the only senior in his alternative HS who drives. I see you are in the Northeast. In NY, you can apply to VESID for help. They are providing several of my son's classmates with further les...

I live in NYS. My son is a senior at a school very much like the one you describe, though it is smaller and also handles kids with other issues (severe ADD, controlled BP and schiz, Tourettes). All of the kids are of at least high average intelligence and many are in the superior range. We are SO ha...

On and off. He is 17 and recently went back on generic Adderall at his own request after 2 years off meds. He took Ritalin in grade 2, switched to Adderall in grade 3, was on it in various dosages through grade 9 and recently went back on. We are mixed about how it has helped him and it is not given...

My 17-year-old son is likely not a true Aspie (we believe lead poisoning caused his issues) but since we took on the dx, we have gotten more help from school, etc. He has many Aspie-like qualities (extremely high intelligence, intense interest in a particular area, lack of interest in doing well in ...
