In my opinion, jealousy and being posessive are potential features with Aspergers due to the need for control of all aspects of ones life - it's not IMO down to being insecure thanks to previous failed attempts at relationships - I have aspergers and have had 3 major relationships in my life, none o...

Animal body language is so much easier - they don't ever use verbal language or try to fake posture/gestures etc. to hide what they are really feeling. If a cat puts its ears back it's not just pretending to be upset or frightened/aggressive, and it won't ever tell you 'no I'm fine' whilst displayin...

Thanks for the responses! You really don't know how comforting they are to me. This relationship is not easy for me, in some ways it's more work than I've ever had to do before. Sometimes I just wish that he'd be happy to see me and come smiling at the door to give me a big hug and kiss and tell me...

I am just tackling the laundry part of your post here! I'm mild Aspergers and my husband is somewhere on the spectrum too, with extreme ADHD type behaviour, whatever he is he isn't neurotypical, and he's horrendously disorganised in all aspects and he has a habit of hoarding things in a very disorga...

Not doing chores or having to be nagged to get them away from doing something more fun is normal for all kids and teenagers. Or anyone that hasn't yet realised that if someone else doesn't pick up after you that you're going to live in a pile of mess. That is not an Aspie trait. It's a normal kid/te...

My question is, do the differences ever fade? I mean, if you're 40, & act like a 30 year old, nobody would care or notice. I'm just hoping everything sorts itself out at some point. Yes IMO it does indeed reach a level where it doesn't matter. At 20 years old, 10 years is 50% of your life, at 4...

Never ever done it myself. I also have what used to be called hypermobility syndrome and is now encompassed in the Ehlers-Danlos group of syndromes - my feet are COMPLETELY flat and have been since birth due to my ligaments and tendons being too lax, I couldn't physically walk on my toes even if I w...

I don't like being hugged with no warning or invitation to do so. When given warning, there are people I will tolerate hugs from, and people who I enjoy getting hugs from. The only person in the latter group, those I enjoy getting hugs from, is my husband. Others with permission are in the 'tolerate...

[quote="Saffy"]Executive planning is one of those things that effects a lot of people with ASD ADHD and TBI ( Traumatic Brain injury ) No doubt it effects a lot of other areas of your life too, not just the housework. I have a few questions for you 1. What have you tried before ? Tidying c...

How do you decide if you need something .. Have you used it recently? Does it have a strong emotional attachment ? ( if it's clothing - does it fit ? and have you worn it in the last year ? ) If the answer is no, either throw it away or give it to a charity for use by someone that can make use of i...

Thank you all so much. I am completely overwhelmed by the understanding response to this thread, just having responses from people who understand and have similar tendencies is beyond my expectation and is very welcomed! Problem is we've gone way way beyond the 'pick it up and put it away when you'v...

I don't have an official diagnosis - I went for hearing tests twice because I cannot hear conversation if there is any background noise and don't notice someone calling my name. For years I honestly thought I was hard of hearing. I got a semi-diagnosis very shortly after the second hearing test. The...

I wouldn't say I'm attractive or have much symmetry - but I do look very young for my age. I'm 37 and am often mistaken for mid 20s - I put that down to not having any lines on my face due to unenthusiastic facial expression most of my life... That may be a factor but I think saying people with AS t...

All the time, I swear and curse, I have mostly learned to keep it quiet but sometimes I can be sitting on the bus etc. thinking through something stressful and will come out with some word louder than intended. I guess that is what one would call coprolalia, it's sort of involuntary but also in a wa...

I know plenty of blokes who are bonkers about Routemasters (may they Rest In Peace :( - the Routemasters that is) Unfortunately for you they live in London - the blokes that is, as the Routemaster is alas no longer to be seen in our streets. I'm a complete tomboy who lives in baggy jeans and t-shirt...
