Yep. I'll be looking for something that's right in front of me and I won't see it. It's embarrassing when someone else comes to help me search, sees it immediately and gives me a strange look.

You could communicate your nervousness by saying "I don't know what to say" or "Wow, now I feel weird". It's best to be yourself, even if it means showing flaws. Obviously it's not perfect, but it's infinitely better than letting them misunderstand and think you're rude.

Hi Sam! I was surprised to hear from you. Yep, I have Asperger's. It's cool to learn that you do too. I didn't even know I had Asperger's back when we used to talk.
I'm doing alright. What have you been up to?

I echo. I'll do whatever they do. If they smile at me as they walk up to the door, I smile. If they say 'hi' or 'hey', I just repeat it with almost the same tone of voice. Seconded. Sometimes I even delay when I see someone, because I'm not sure what to say, until they finally say hello/hey/hi and ...

It will get better!! !! I'm not trying to be patronizing but when you're depressed it's hard to see that things will ever get better bcs you're stuck in a cycle of negative thinking and probably bcs of low levels of serotonin (or receptors for serotonin in certain parts of the brain)...but I've bee...

That's not true. I got locked up for a week and a half for saying I was suicidal. It's true that the patients are saner than the doctors...mostly. This one guy was blackmailed into staying past 72 hours because they wanted his money, I guess. After a week and a half, they admitted that I was fine t...

Have you tried being direct? You could tell your sister that over the years you have become 1000 times more confident and are no longer the socially-awkward dork that is afraid of his own shadow.

I think the best way to gauge the emotion is by how it makes you feel. When you read your writing and it makes you genuinely feel emotion, then it's good. By contrast, sometimes you'll read your writing and think, "I don't feel anything myself, but the writing seems emotional", then that's an indica...

I don't think this is that hard, actually. I'm just writing anything I want, and going back to modify any word that has that symbol in it. In my opinion, it's mostly just difficult to try to think of stuff to say , you know? If you can't think of anything to say, it's basically an impossibility to p...

I'm not sure I get the rules. Are we supposed to keep listing synonyms for "neurotypical"? Or do I post a synonym for "majority", and then the next person will post a synonym for whatever word I came up with?
