My synaesthesia has no advantages (I am a colour>word, number, personality synaesthete). Peoples' names rarely match the colour of them as a person, so I am constantly getting names mixed up. Plus, my synaesthetic perceptions are in my mind's eye and are vivid and yet transparent at the same time, b...

I read that being late to walk could indicate Asperger's. I couldn't walk til I was at least 2 and a half. At the time it was put down to spina bifida occulta (very tiny gap in the spine), but I've seen a few hip and spine specialists who have told me that the spina bifida is so minimal that it almo...

I'm worried my parents will leave some important things out and I'll get misdiagnosed. I have the same problem! I said to my mum the other day, "Remember when I was about 6 doing that music show and we were told to march, and I was marching with my left arm going forward at the same time as my left...

Thanks Sora, useful information there. I think it must've been a tic to start with, and now I guess it's an anxiety thing or something!

I've always thought of myself as a person of extremes (all or nothing), but when I really think about things there just seems to be lots of shades of grey.

I was at my happiest/calmest when I did Muay Thai. I had to give it up to go to uni, and have since developed problems with my hip joints which prevents me from going back :(
I hope to get some reassurance next week from the orthapedic specialist that I can start going again. Fingers crossed.

I don't *think* it's tourette's, I've never experienced anything like it before and I have been in far more stressful situations (exams, university work etc). There are still stresses in my life though so I just wondered if this was an outward way of releasing the tension? I don't do any exercise bu...

In about November 2007 I developed a head twitch for two days that I just could not stop. My head constantly went quickly from left to right and was seemingly impossible to prevent. When I knew someone was looking at me I was able to control it, but the second they turned away the twitch came back w...

Or when you say something in a conversation and your speech is interrupted, can you just forget what you wanted to say when the topic is already ended or further ahead or do you have to say it even if the situation is over already? Arg it's impossible to forget. I have to say it otherwise it'll dri...

I just took both. they kept switching, the dancer even nearly at every turn. what does that mean? anyone else like that? I spent a lot of time looking at that spinning lady and I'm pretty sure it's a trick. If you focus on the hip/thigh area, I'm *sure* she changes legs every now and then, but mayb...

You've come to the right place for aspie help, but if I were you I'd wait til you see the neurologist. You don't want to pick up things from research and make them fit, it's probably better to get an accurate assessment from the professional. Head injuries bring up all sorts of problems with dealing...

Well, I've just seen the CPN. She said I'm probably lacking in confidence and she's given me a load of self-help booklets on 'assertiveness' and 'self-esteem'. I suppose looking at those won't do any harm. She said I can go and see a counsellor (waiting time 4 months) but I don't see how that's poss...

When I was a teenager my parents used to force me to go to parties and to peoples' houses "for my own good" but it didn't do much good cos I was always thinking about what better things I could be doing with my time.

I find that I offer favours all too easily, and then I end up feeling like maybe people take advantage of that, and also it puts a lot of pressure on myself and stresses me out. I kind of feel like Edward Scissorhands when he cuts all the dogs' and womens' hair because he likes doing it, but then ev...

I'm almost in the same boat as you in that I can read non-verbal communication quite well, but with everything else I'm very aspie-like, so I'm just really confused as to whether it can be AS or not.
