No it's fine. People still enjoy and watch spongebob as adults, even though it is primarily aimed for children.
I don't know how old you are but spongebob is culturally significant for those who grew up in the 2000s, and has a lot of references and jokes that adults can appreciate and find funny. |

Yes typically. I realize now whenever I'd bring up my special interest, I think most people were offput by it without me realizing it.

Granted I can understand where one might be coming from with this statement. It can be frustrating to have to deal with a depressed person, but obviously a clash in prior experiences between two parties. |

I grew up with a similar mindset. I would value logical consistency in everyday conversation and had a thick filter for what I would or wouldn't say.
Then you realize that nobody really operates this way or that people don't really socialize in this manner. |
