My favorite "mentally ill" character is Detective Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio, aka Private Pyle in FMJ) from Law and Order: Criminal Intent. I have no idea what his issue is, the show hints around that his mother is schizophrenic, but he comes across as just odd... I'd almost say AS, but he doesn’t see...

As you approach a stoplight, there can exist a zone, where if the light turns yellow, you can neither continue through the intersection before the light turns red, nor "safely" come to a stop...

As far as whether or not Journalism is a good fit with Aspergers... I'd say it certainly is!
