I think a lot of his fear stems from the bout with hurricanes we had a few years back (we live in FL). It was a very scary time for all. We lost power for a week, trees fell down all around our house it was just a scary time I don't think he quite got past all that. If the power goes out you might a... |

My aspie son he's 10 is terrified of thunderstorms. We try everything to calm him down when they come up. Living in Florida we have them frequently. He starts from one door to the next looking outside, watches the weather on TV, he sees the warnings on the TV and he just goes into a melt down that l... |

The right spot to put his flashlight? Lol, interesting. My son is rough on everything, as well, which is why we live with furniture that desperately needs to be replaced. Anything new will be trashed far too fast for us. I've told my son it's too bad we can't just build him a giant room with padded... |

The holes in the wall come from him trying to find the right spot to put his flashlight granted thats not an excuse as for the bed frames I don't know how he is breaking them. Maybe its because he's just rough on everything. Thank you for all the post and suggestions. |

I realize that he is 10 and doesn't care about his room, my thing is that he's broken his door, broke 2 beds( & yes we have a trampoline), holes in the wall so all the drywall is on the floor. He's very sneaky with food he brings in his room and he doesn't seem to care about throwing it away. Tr... |

I can't get my 10 yr to clean his room for anything. Somtimes I think he likes it to be messy. I've helped him so many times cleaning it up and its great for a while then it seems like in a blink of an eye is a disaster once again. We have gone through two beds in the past year 1/2 he broke the fram... |

My problem is how to explain to my 10 yr old aspie son. I try to explain things to him sometimes and his famous question is WHY? or What do you mean. I apparently don't know how to explain it well enough yet. He was dx'ed 7/07 I know he knows hes different & doesn't understand why he does things... |

My aspie son whos 10 is on prozac (30 mg) & adderall (10 mg) they seem to be working so far. He was on welbutron (spelling?) for 7 months and it did nothing for him it seemed that his anxiety was still the same & his melt downs more frequently. What I have notice with him taking adderall is ... |

I glad I came across this topic. I have a 10 yr old aspie son who tells some wild tales. One way I figured out if he was telling "stories" (lying) was to go right to the source. If he came home and told me that he was sent to the office at school I usually say really well I guess I need to call the ... |

I wasn't really sure what stimming was now I understand. Having a 10 year old aspie son who open/closes doors when he's upset with thunderstorms, consently pealing lables off of everything thank God he hasn't gotten to my can goods I'm so glad I found WP and know that I'm not alone. |
