I often have people repeat what they just said to me because my attention happened to wander. Otherwise, they think that I heard what they were saying only to realize later that I hadn't. I'm also reluctant to ask them to repeat sometimes because of the embarrassment that would cause. My parents als...

Wonderful article. I actually read through the whole thing. The public fears what they don't know, so they label the ASDs as terrible diseases which must be cured. This serves to comfort them by creating a boundary between them and people diagnosed with ASDs, essentially forming an outgroup out of t...

I confess that I consider myself a feminist.

I confess that I am currently addicted to VitaminWater.

I confess that I hate my roommates' musical tastes, but I like them as friends.

I confess that I've had my fingernail-biting habit since I was a child.

etc. etc.

I sometimes look at the pictures on rotten.com. Some (okay, all) of the pictures are shocking and disgusting, but somehow hold a strange appeal to me. I can look at most pictures of corpses and extreme human deformities and not flinch. No, I'm not obsessed with death and dying. I'm just unnaturally ...

I adore cats, but what's devastating is the fact that I'm allergic to cat saliva. If I were to own a cat, I'd have to take allergy medication or shots on a daily basis :(.

I don't like to give out hugs or receive them, nor do I like being touched in any way. I don't mind giving high-fives or shaking hands, but I'm a little uncomfortable with anything beyond those. I like showing appreciation or affection in less direct ways.

(Please tell me if this is in the wrong forum) There's an incident during high school, many years ago, that I still mull about from time to time. I was a strongly-involved member of my Science Olympiad club in high school, and became strong acquaintances with several other members. Some of the boys ...

I'd say 2 or 3. 6 if I add my parents and cousins. One of my closest friends hadn't talked to me in several months. She has had a boyfriend for quite some time now. Several months ago I posted on the FF:WA forums, of which we are/were both members, for the first time in years and she PM'ed me asking...

Middle school, I think. There were some boys who sort of teased me but I just ignored them completely. Outside of school, though, I never had much of a social life, period. My parents actually wished that I'd go out more often, while other parents wished that their kids would go out less often!

I absolutely don't hate women--I have some feminist tendencies, for goodness' sake :P! I just don't share many common interests with other women around my age in this country. I find it hard to talk with them unless it's about our classes. It seems like all that most girls focus on these days are bo...

I can't understand why so many women and girls spend so much time and/or money on makeup and clothing (esp. shoes). I believe makeup is essentially useless, and wonder why those girls/women prefer platform shoes and heels when sneakers also afford style (albeit of a different kind) and comfort. My m...
