Self-love has three meanings: an appreciation of one's own worth or virtue, proper regard for and attention to one's own happiness or well-being, and inflated love of or pride in oneself. The first two meanings sound too close to the third one, and humility is a core value where I live in, which may... |

May I ask if you live in a country where one of the beauty standards for ladies is youthfulness? If so, I'd assume they're just trying to make you feel better. I hate to say, but it doesn't make sense to me why you wouldn't like when people call you young , especially since it's often seen as a comp... |

I'm afraid I believe in age-appropriate interests, and the same goes for "gender-appropriate" ones (Fashion for girls and cops for boys). To be fair, I enjoy Looney Tunes, but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of it - just watch it every Saturday morning. |

Montaigne at one point said beautifully that he wouldn't feel bad about negative perceptions others have of him that are not true, since he also wouldn't feel good if people praised him for something he never did well That is how I feel. On some occasions I have been accused of being arrogant by su... |

To work on my impression, I've been reading Emily Post's Etiquette, The Centennial Edition by Daniel Post Senning and Lizzie Post. By the way, Emily Post is a lady who made a career out of good manners. She carved out humorous caricatures of the "Types of Talkers" that we all encounter - r... |

As someone with autism, I tend to talk about myself instead of giving others a chance to do the same, which suggests an apparent lack of interest in them - in other words, arrogance. Interestingly, autism is from the Greek word for self , which is quite self-explanatory. The American psychiatrist Le... |

If you’re a kid, do not speak unless spoken to while the adults are talking. If it’s important, say “Excuse me” to interrupt or get one of the adult’s attention.
Just a darn minute! Is this 1955? |

I'm sometimes shy to speak when people are talking about something I don’t know. This is why it's often a good idea to talk about things of common interest. It's good advice. However, I might stay silent at the table or during adults’ conversation because “children should be seen and not heard,” eve... |

No, but it makes the person using them sound childish, or like Ned Flanders. No one thinks that. No one thinks that, or you don't think that? I've heard people express exactly that sentiment, so clearly some people think that. I meant “no one” as in “not a lot of people.” I forgot that people with ... |

^ Obviously, some people DO think that. I think so, but I use them anyway sometimes because I like being dorky in a Ned Flanders sort of way now and then. I would only care if everyone thought that (“everyone” in this context means “most people”). I just use them to be polite or to avoid taking the... |
